Custom Living Room

Preppy Living Room Design

I’ve shared photos of my living room with you before but I have a history of redecorating rooms at every change I get. That is not exactly in our budget, so I compromise by investing in classic pieces that I know I’ll love for a long time and then changing up my throw pillows fairly often.

This has become infinitely easier because of my friend Roxy who started Society Social, a design company that allows you to create totally pieces at realistic prices. I asked her if she could make me a blue and white striped chair and voila, she created a masterpiece.

Before you read the rest of this post, I should probably tell you that I’m not being paid to write this but it might seem like an ad. That’s only because I legit love her stuff more than anything and Roxy is a talented, amazing lady and I love supporting badass business women!

(Pssst scroll all the way down for a chance to win your choice of 2 ahhhh-mazing throw pillows).

Pattern Mixing at Home

I wanted to make a tweak to the room so I asked her if she could create pillows out of the same fabric that she had used for my chair (you can find them here). I love how they make the room totally cohesive on the couch right next to it. I knew I wanted to keep my palm pillows but needed one more pattern to round out the look so she recommended this modern blue and white throw pillow that adds another unexpected twist. . . Nothing like pattern mixing in fashion and at home, am I right?

What I love about her designs is that they look super high end but the price point is more affordable than a lot of other options. Each piece that she and her team makes is created individually just for you. So if you want a hot pink twill sofa, a classic ivory linen arm chair, or a lacquered orange bar cart, they have it covered!

Flowers in Diptique Candles

A fun new feature on her site that I just played around with for way too long is the shop by room feature. She styled up 7 drool-worthy spaces and lets you shop them in one place. The “Turks & Traditional” is basically my dream summer home look. Ha, yeah right. A girl can dream though!

I’ve loved the orangerie rose for longer than I can remember! But, I’m thinking I might have to go with something a teensy bit more gender friendly, like the black and white striped slub pillows. If I won these, I think I would finally have to break down and buy a new couch, because theses are too pretty to put on the one I have now 😉

I have never heard about this company before, and let me say, after a little exploration of her site with my boyfriend; we love it! For our master bedroom, we currently have blue walls, white duvet, light blue Ikat sheet set from West Elm (we also have a light grey and white striped set), and navy accent pillows. I would love to have the Beverly Palm pillow to add a fun color in the middle of our bed. Green looks really great with different hues of blue and grey.

For the living room, we currently got a grey couch that we have been searching for fun, affordable pillows to replace the ones it came with. My boyfriend and I fell in love with every pillow on the site (so really we would be fine with any) but I think to stay with the nautical theme of the room, the navy and white striped pillow would look best. Our home is very nautical inspired (both of us begin sailors) and we love navy!

Love all of your posts Julia and thanks for the fun giveaway!

First – Love this site! I had not heard about it before your post. Second – For my living room I think I would have to pick a pair of the ‘Navy Slub and White Stripe’ pillows. My living room and dining room are open to each other and all of my colors used are blue, white and a Chinese red. My dining chairs are a navy and white geometric print, while my two club chairs are done in a ivory and navy check print. My sofa however, is a bright red, white and blue floral pattern – these pillows would work great with the fabric and pattern and not clash/overtake the wild print that is on my sofa.

I love this partnership- two of my favorites! I’ve found that there are two things that I gravitate to when choosing things for my home: anything black and white and things that have a story to tell. So I would choose the black and white “Fireworks” pillows. My husband took me to watch fireworks on our first date (cheesy but here we are!) and we ended up getting married at the same spot. The largest piece in our master bedroom is colorful abstract photo of the fireworks at our wedding. So these pillows would create a cohesive look while checking off my two decorating musts. I am purchasing my first apartment in NYC and can’t wait to decorate! Thanks for turning me on to this site, I am finding some great inspiration! My living room has amazing light (a rare find in NYC) so I’m looking to have a very clean, neutral living room with some fun and colorful accessories. I’m leaning towards a light grey couch with purple and blue accents throughout the room. The Jacobean Sapphire fits my vision so well!

I’m a big proponent of playing up patterns, prints and colors in a room that has neutral pieces! That pop of color is really what draws out and brightens a room! also happen to love/am obsessed with the way society social and lemonstripes find ways to always bring life through color and pattern in every room! I Am obsessed with everything chinoiserie and blue, so I would go for the chinoiserie porcelain blue pillow, mixed with the green Ming trellis pillow. Both Asian inspired, but so fun and would be a great pop to my sofa or bed!! Both of you give me such inspiration, and confidence to not be afraid to be bold when it comes to decorating! Thank you!
