In the last few weeks, I’ve gotten more than one request to compare my beloved Allbirds to my Rothy’s flats… The problem is that I love them equally and wear them for different purposes so I can’t really compare the two! But I decided to take it one step further and highlight all of my current favorite comfortable flats. One is a wish list item but the rest I have and wear on repeat.
I also included more affordable options for each of my picks. That said, the reason I love all of these so much is because the quality is on point and they will last season after season.
I’ll start with a few words about Allbirds sneakers because I wear mine every single day. Anel had always wanted a pair and when he went to buy his I got jealous and bought matching ones. We also recently realized they make Smallbirds for kids, and Santa may or may not be bringing a pair to Amalia. I slip them on for daycare dropoff because they’re so easy. You can wear them without socks and even throw them right in the washer! I think they look super cute with leggings and a big sweater or fleece aka my fall uniform.
Speaking of shoes you can throw in the washer, Rothys sent me this pair of their point flats and I love them so much that I bought another pair! I’ve also tried their sneakers and loafers, but the point flat is my favorite. They’re crazy comfortable, made from recycled plastic bottles (so cool), and machine washable (so convenient). My favorite design element is that each pair has two bright stripes along the heel for a fun little surprise. TBH before I tried them on in person I thought they were super ugly and weirdly shaped. But on my foot, they look much better than on the website.
The new Rothy’s are giving my go-to J.Crew Factory leopard flats a run for their money… Although they’re such different vibes I refuse to pit them against each other! A lot of people have told me that the leopard flats are uncomfortable for them but I suggest trying to size up and try again. I love mine and wear them all the time. I’ve never gotten a blister from them! Plus right now they’re buy one get one free.
I don’t actually own a pair of Gucci slides (yet) but I’m dying for them and have tried them on multiple times. So chic. So comfy.
Check out the rest of my list below and let me know what your favorite comfy flats are! But more importantly… PLEASE VOTE TODAY! Check out me and Amalia hitting the polls this morning.

We got my son a pair of Allbirds for Christmas last year. They’ve held up really well, especially for a 3.5 year old toddler! He loves that he matches his daddy and uncle. 🙂
My favorite flats are the M. Gemi loafers – either the Felize to Pastoso. They have $50 every pair right now too!
Oh good to know! I just saw the M.Gemi sale. So exciting!
Allbirds and Rothy’s are both 100% worth the hype in terms of style, comfort, and durability! I get tons of compliments. And, especially important if you have kids, they’re both machine washable. Praise hands!
Agreed! Two of the best pairs of shoes ever!
I had a questions about the Rothy’s; I have heard that they can smell, from the plastic I suppose? Have you noticed that at all?
People keep asking me this but I haven’t had that problem at all personally!
I am curious about the arch support on the Rothy’s. I have a really high arch, and I struggle a lot with flats because they don’t have enough arch support. I have the same J Crew leopard flats, and I can’t wear them to do much walking because of that. Do you think the Rothy’s have more?
I also have a super high arch and don’t have a problem. They’re definitely more comfortable than the J.Crew leopard flats but they don’t have a ton of arch support!
I splurged on a pair of Gucci mules this fall but ended up being disappointed with them. They run narrow and I could barely get them on, and once I did I found them stiff and uncomfortable. I’m sure they break in eventually but for $700+ I wasn’t in love with them enough to keep them. Anyway, sad story but I think there are less expensive options (even ones made in Italy) that are just as good without the brand name price.
That’s good to know! My sister has the loafers and loves them/wears them every day so maybe that’s a better investment. I think the leather might be a little less stiff on the loafers.
