Casual Summer

Summer Casual

c/o Sosie tee, white blazer, denim shorts, Ray Ban aviators, c/o Sydney Evan “love” necklace

Last Sunday, my dad and his wife hosted a Memorial Day BBQ at their house. It was a perfect, 80 degree day with just the right amount of summer breeze action. We ate grilled cilantro marinated chicken, tomato salad, and homemade watermelon granitas (recipe coming soon). I wanted to look super casual without feeling sloppy, and ended up in this outfit, entirely from Sosie.

My dos and don’t of summer casual:

Do: Distressed denim. This is such a fun trend in that even though it’s technically messy, I think it still looks incredibly chic. These shorts  are a ridiculously amazing steal for under $40, and will be on repeat all summer long. (Note: I sized up one full size).

Do: Loose & flowy. When paired with a flowy white blazer and an uber soft blush pink tee, I created the ultimate summer BBQ look because you can eat as many hot dogs as you want, play around in the grass with kids, and lounge about with a gin & tonic while looking pulled together.

Do: Easy up-do. When I don’t feel like blow-drying during warmer months, I whip my hair into my favorite summer braids… I really should do a tutorial on that soon!

Don’t: Too tight or too short. If you’re pulling at your skirt or working hard to suck in your stomach all day, you’ll feel terrible and look awkward pulling at your outfit.

Speaking of BBQs, I teamed up with Guest of a Guest to make a video on summer entertaining. Check out my video debut here! What’s your favorite summer entertaining tip?

Side note: My half brother, Jackson, and his “girlfriend” Izzy wanted to jump in the photos so scroll down for their cameos! So adorable, right?

I loved the tips you shared for summer entertaining in the video. Clever and cute idea to stick fresh fruits in the water jugs. I never thought of it. Thanks for sharing!
