My sister, mom, and I might look alike, but our styles are very different. When my friend Alex found out that I was visiting both of them in California last week, she asked if we would want to shoot three of her colorful dresses together. I thought it would be so fun to have pictures of the three of us, so we immediately agreed! She let us each pick our favorite pattern and style, and while they were all fairly different, they went together perfectly, much like the three of us.
We had a blast doing this photo shoot together on the campus of my alma mater, Scripps College. We couldn’t stop giggling like little kids, and now we all have some beautiful shots to frame in our homes! It’s so rare for the three of us to spend any time alone together anymore because of our three husbands, two dogs, and one baby. But when we do, the time is extra special.
I chose the Brie Dress in a bright pink and orange leaf pattern. It’s casual and doesn’t take itself too seriously, kind of like me. I’ll be wearing this as a cover up in Florida next month and all summer long!
My sister chose the Louise Dress in Drip Drop. She’s in the early stages of starting a new business that focuses on placing women in C-Suite level positions, so she is constantly in meetings to connect with potential clients and candidates. While she needs to look professional for work, she is also a young woman trying to change the narrative of the business she’s in, so she often goes for business casual cuts but bold colors and patterns.
My mom chose the Winpenny Dress in Cabana. She’s retired, but volunteers for various causes and always has some sort of project going on, so she likes to look pulled-together and almost always wears a long tunic or dress over black leggings. You can’t see it from these photos, but she has one green eye and one blue eye so the turquoise in this dress brought them both out perfectly.
