Moving Must Haves

Ok moving is really effing stressful, guys. And when you’re moving out of the city that you’ve been living in for 7 years, it’s way worse. Emotions run high (I’ve cried every day this month so far) on top of the regular anxieties that come with a big move. We’ve been packing day in and day out for over a week and it seems like the amount of stuff we have is bottomless. Just as we thought we’ve finished the kitchen, another drawer turns up out of nowhere, I swear!

In between wrapping plates in bubble wrap and stacking books in boxes, I’ve been doing some serious damage in decorating the new place which is my saving grace and stress-release. I’ve been working with the amazing gals at The Havenly (I cannot recommend them highly enough) to design our bedroom and living room. I’ll do a big reveal with photos and all that once we’re settled but I wanted to share a few of the fabulous things that I’ve purchased for our Connecticut home.

I seriously can’t wait until it all comes together. . . Ok fine here’s a sneak peek.

Wow, looks gorgeous! I really wish I would have done a design rendering before I moved into my place. It would have saved me many returned frames, chairs, shower curtains…this is a great idea!

Aw, Lindsay shoot us an email next time. We’d be glad to help out. I hate it when my purchases don’t work out. So frustrating– good luck! xx

  3. Julia, it gets better! 🙂 Leaving NYC was the hardest thing I’ve ever
done. I cried so much… especially when I saw the Chicago skyline during our drive out to Illinois with all our stuff. As much as I miss NYC, my husband and I are much happier with our toned-down lifestyle when I compare this year to last.

I really think you’re doing the right thing. I know it probably seems like a chapter of your life is coming to a close, but just think: less stress, more space, and reasonable rents! And you’re just a quick Metro North ride away from the bustling streets of Manhattan! 🙂 Plus, your new home looks AMAZING! Oh my goodness. I can’t wait to see the photos.

Oh, and packing? Good God. We felt like we threw half of our belongings away, yet we still filled an entire UHaul with stuff. We’ve resolved to not move again until we buy. It’s horrific!

Good luck! Can’t wait to hear about your adventures in CT!
