I’ve been on a major reading and TV bender lately (is that a thing?), and I regret nothing. Between cozy evenings curled up with a good book and zoning out to shows after the kids are in bed, this little list is a mix of everything I’m loving right now.
From tearjerker books to trash TV I can’t stop watching (oh hello there, SLOMW) to what might be the best comedy on TV, I’ve done it all. Plus, a few random favorites I’ve been loving this month, including the comfiest sweatpant shorts and a meditation app that actually works for my chaotic brain.
Enjoy this list of everything I’m reading, watching, and loving this month! xx
WHAT I’M READING & WATCHING
Reading/Read –
Everyone Is Lying to You by Jo Piazza: This is the #tradwife murder mystery we’ve all been waiting for! It is currently on pre-order, but trust me you will want it the second it hits the shelves. It’s one of those books that I bring in my purse everywhere because I can’t stop reading it. I loved Jo Piazza’s last book, The Sicilian Inheritance, and didn’t think she could top it, but she did! So far it’s an explosive thriller about two estranged friends, one a journalist, the other a tradwife influencer, a murder, a sudden disappearance, and the truly shocking revelation that everyone is lying to you about something.
Broken Country by Clare Leslie Hall: Last weekend I finished this love story with a touch of murder, and it is a total emotional rollercoaster that was heart-wrenching and beautifully written. Set in the English countryside in the 1950s and ’60s, it follows Beth, a farmer’s wife whose life is turned upside down when her teenage first love, Gabriel, returns to town with his son Leo, a boy who reminds her of her own son who died in a tragic accident a few years earlier. The story weaves between timelines, revealing secrets and building suspense that kept me hooked until the very end. It’s no surprise this was a Reese’s Book Club pick. If you’re looking for a read that tugs at your heartstrings and stays with you long after the last page, this is it.
How to End a Love Story by Yulin Kuang: Two writers with a complicated history, going all the way back to high school, end up working on the same TV show and fall into a sexy and emotional enemies-to-lovers romance. This book is spicy (a few rated R scenes!), sweet, and romantic. I had a long drive recently and needed a good listen, and this did the trick.
Watching –
Sirens (Netflix): I just started Sirens and wow, it’s the kind of dark, juicy drama that totally takes over evening plans (in the best way). Think The White Lotus meets Big Little Lies, but with even more yacht-club couture and sisterly chaos. Meghann Fahy and Julianne Moore are phenomenal and it’s just so fun to watch evil billionaires go through life!
Your Friends & Neighbors (Apple +): Jon Hamm’s newest show is phenomenal. I may be biased since he is my boyfriend, but I’m loving it so much. His character, Coop, is fired from his job, divorced from his wife, and lost most of his money in the process. He needs cash and quick so he turns to petty crime, stealing watches, jewelry, and other luxury items from his network of uber-wealthy friends and neighbors. It’s dark and funny and I can’t wait for the next episode to come out.
Secret Lives of Mormon Wives S2 (Hulu): It’s embarrassing how addicted I am to this show, which is terrible, but I can’t look away. I’ve gotten invested in the lives of these gals and just want more and more.
Hacks S4 (Max): I stand by my statement last year that this is the best comedy on TV in the last 5 years. I just finished season four and cried almost as much as I laughed.
RANDOM THINGS I’M LOVING
1. Open Breathwork & Meditation App: I’ve been working with my therapist on finding a meditation app that I like and will actually use. We finally landed on Open which is PHENOMENAL for wellness girlies who have a hard time meditating (like me). I like that when you open it, it has meditation options ready to go for that specific time of day. For example, at night I’ll often do an 8-minute body scan or a 5-minute deep sleep meditation. It’s been great!
2. Sweatpants Shorts: These viral Rag & Bone “jean shorts” are the best thing to ever happen to Millennial moms, I promise you that. They look like Jorts, but are actually a thin sweatpant material. Can I get a pair for every day of the week, please and thank you?
3. Easy Summer Maxi Dress: The silhouette of this dress is very similar to the Anthropologie Somerset dress, but at a fraction of the cost. I wore it to our Memorial Day BBQ and can already tell it’s going to be a huge staple in my summer wardrobe. I have it in navy but love the coral, black, and the blue and white stripes.
4. Dinner by Melissa Clark (cookbook): A friend of mine made me a dish (the cumin lamb) from this cookbook, and I immediately bought it from my phone after perusing a few of the recipes. I’ve now made over 10 of Clark’s approachable but unique dinner recipes, and they have all been 10/10 with no notes. Besides my own, this has become my favorite cookbook!
5. Comfy Striped Sweatshirt and Shorts Matching Set: This cozy set featuring a terry striped sweatshirt (on sale for $44) and matching shorts (on sale for $26) is perfect for evenings at the beach or early morning dog walks this summer. I just got mine and I want to live in it.
