When I went to San Francisco in April, my husband built a fire pit while I was gone. Yes, he’s a real person, I know it’s hard to believe. Now that it’s finally warm enough to use it, it’s been burning non-stop in the evenings. It’s great for long conversations and savoring a bottle of wine. It’s also great for s’mores and I’m pretty sure I’ll gain 8000 pounds eating them this summer but that will have to be ok because they’re just so damn good!
Last weekend, we had some friends over on Sunday night for drinks and I was planning to put together this cute little spread for a s’mores party. Unfortunately, it ended up being freezing cold that night so we opted for an inside dinner party, but Anel and I were so excited for the s’mores idea that we did it the next night instead just for us.
We just picked up four adirondack chairs that…wait for it…have built in wine glass holders. Talk about score of the summer! We put them around the fire with white garden stools in between but the thing that we’ve gotten the most use out of outside is this tray table. I love it because I can fill the tray up with food or drinks and just place it on the stand when I’m ready to serve.
Instead of just making plain ole’ s’mores, I took a bunch of stuff we had in our pantry and created this little spread. Now that I’ve tasted a s’more on a chocolate chip cookie, there is no turning back…
What you need:
- Graham crackers
- Chocolate chip cookies
- Ritz crackers
- 3 kinds of chocolates
- Sticks for roasting
- Spreads (I opted for almond butter, cashew butter, and peanut butter)
- Napkins for inevitably sticky fingers
- Wine for adults
- Something fizzy for kids
- An outdoor serving table to hold everything
- Chairs for your guests to relax in
What do do:
1. Set up all the ingredients before your guests arrive
2. Build a fire
3. Play your favorite party mix
4. Have the best time ever!
