After four years in our house, I’ve finally decided to tackle our guest room. It’s been basically a hodge-podge of furniture and decor that doesn’t really go together in any way. My in-laws stay over almost every week and my parents, sister, and nieces come up very often too. I want to create a room that feels cozy and pretty but not fancy or fussy.
I recently did a podcast interview where the host asked me what I wanted to be as a little kid when I grew up and my answer was interior designer. It’s still a fantasy of mine now! I have no idea what I’m doing but I love design and putting together rooms like this.
The guest room design started with peel and stick faux grasscloth wallpaper. We also have it in our laundry room and I love how clean it looks while elevating the entire space. We have the Mineral Blue colorway in the laundry room but I went with Whisper Blue for here.
Next, I knew I wanted a rattan/raffia bed and found this one for a great price compared to others like it. The next big piece of the puzzle was the rug. I went for a simple neutral wool rug so that I could add in blues and other colors elsewhere.
