Facing a Fear

Backyard Weekend Outfit

Shirt c/o / JeansNecklace / Hat

This week was a big one for me, you guys! You might remember a few months ago I was asked to model in a bathing suit for People Stylewatch. When my husband convinced me to do it, I thought I was facing my biggest fear. I was wrong. I was about to face an even bigger one! Last week, the editor at Stylewatch asked if I would come on The TODAY Show to model the same suit live. On national television. Wait, what? Me in a swimsuit on TV? I don’t think so…

My first instinct was to say no. At least with the photo shoot I had a few weeks to prepare, throwing in extra workouts and cutting all gluten. This time it was a matter of days before the live show. Again, my husband convinced me that it would help me get over my intense body dysmorphia and it actually did help! I got a barrage of text messages, calls, emails, and Snapchats from friends and family (and some people I hadn’t heard from in years) saying how amazing I looked. And I actually believed it. For the first time in a long time!

Some fun BTS facts from the show: Jason Bateman might have seen me change into my bathing suit. Ellie Kemper smiled at me, so pretty sure Kimmy Shmidt and I are now BFFs. I had a major fangirl moment with Zosia Mamet. I blacked out the entire time I was on camera. After it was all over I literally couldn’t remember it. That’s how nervous I was!

You can watch the segment here and pick up the May issue of StyleWatch on newsstands today. Side bar, I’m also in a two-page advertorial in the same issue, random!

I celebrated my mini personal victories along with celebrating my husband’s 30th birthday a little early with friends and family all weekend to celebrate including a dinner party on Friday night (my first in the new house) and a night out on Saturday, and a brunch at home on Sunday. That evening, after I was aggressively exhausted from all the fun, I threw on this amazing tropical print shirt (obsessed) and my favorite necklace of the summer for rosé on the patio before everyone headed home. Thank goodness for a relatively easy week and next weekend at home with not too many plans.

PS I’ve received so many questions about the bathing suit I wore for the suit and segment. I found it online here and here for you guys!
