One of the things I’m most proud of this year is that I founded a female entrepreneur group in my area. We meet monthly to network and find ways to support each other. I highlighted one of those women last week in my Shop Small post, and I’m excited to be highlighting another one today! The idea of local women supporting each other makes my heart burst, and I feel so lucky to have made so many entrepreneurial friends in my ‘hood.
One of these friends is Lauren, who along with her mom and sister, created Dudley Stephens in 2015 to solve their problem of always wanting to wear fleece for warmth but never looking chic in it. Whether it was for on the slopes or in a boat, they knew there had to be something better out there. There wasn’t, so they made it themselves! The women reimagined fleece in a super cool way, creating their signature piece, the turtleneck tunic, along with capes and even dresses more recently.
When I first saw her site, I couldn’t fully tell how much I’d love the product, but since I’ve picked up this turtleneck, a blazer, and a cape that I wear all the time, I’m now a tried and true fan. Because I work from home, I pretty much live in my black turtleneck because it’s warm and comfy, but if I need to go run an errand, it doesn’t look sloppy like most of my sweatshirts. Oh also? It has pockets.

In other news, last week I finally taught myself how to curl my own hair. Since it’s been short, I have been at a total loss on how to style it myself but after watching this video (even though she has long hair), I’ve become a a pro. I have this wand and love it. Fun fact: I’ve always been awful at doing my own hair, so one of my goals for 2017 is to step up my beauty/hair game. I’m going to do a full tutorial on how I get this look, with tips especially for people with shorter hair soon. Stay tuned!

I’d absolutely go with the marine blue–it’s beautiful and goes with so much of my wardrobe! I’d give one to my roommate and best friend as we always “borrow” each other’s clothes.

I would give the turtleneck to my mother. She lives in NYC and doesn’t drive, which means she is usually walking to and from the grocery store in the winter. This would be a great layer to keep her warm. As a New Yorker, she pretty much only wears black, so I would have to go with that!
Love this look! I would choose the classic black. My favorite thing about this sweater is that you could wear it anywhere. I’d gift the other one to my mom- She’s traveling to Chicago to stay with me over Christmas, and we’d love to #twin in this cozy sweater as we walk my dog Ronan around Lincoln Park!

I would start with one in black and probably collect several more in other neutral colors, and I would love to give one in black to my mom! She’s always cold and looking for something cozy to wear, and this looks perfect!
I would definitely go with the black! You can never go wrong with the color- it’s classic and super versatile for creating different looks depending on your day. I would give it to my best friend who shares my appreciation for cozy/chic/black pieces. She has had an exceptionally tough time adjusting to new circumstances these past few months, so I know something like this would brighten her life just enough.
Black. I would give this to my sister. She has four kids under the age of 9 (getting a daily shower and getting dressed are a struggle) and lives in the freezing city of Sioux Falls where the snow doesn’t melt until spring. Super cute hair!

Can’t wait for the tutorial. I’ve been trying to do this myself and I have such a hard time with one side of my head! Plus I burn myself a lot! I finally got a wave iron, but only slightly less pathetic using it. It’s supposed to be a beachy, care-free look, but of course it takes so much effort to look like you didn’t try!
I love this cozy chic fleece tunic! It is exactly what my closet is missing!! I’m drawn to the black, but I’ve been trying to step out of my comfort zone with color. I would choose the marine blue for myself and the periwinkle for my aunt. She is like a mother to me and has always been very supportive and loving. With four children of her own she never treats herself, so having a warm stylish tunic for the winter months would just make her holiday season!

I work from home a few days a week to cut down on a horribly long commute. I usually throw on a sweatshirt to drop my daughter off at daycare and look like THAT Mom embarrassingly too often. The black fleece turtleneck looks like it will solve my problems… although now I’ll be that Mom that wears the same cute turtleneck everyday! I’d gift the other to a Mom friend in the same boat.
I love this! I would gift the periwinkle to my mom. She has light blue eyes so this would look amazing on her. She has been dying to ski out west since she was a kid, and we finally booked our flights for our first big family vacation to ski Colorado. She cried when we booked the flights (she is SO excited) and we are going to Aspen which she has been dreaming about going to her whole life. Morning! I exercise in the evenings, after work, and the periwinkle turtleneck looks like the most perfect thing to throw on post-work out with leggings and cute tennis shoes while I run errands or meet my boyfriend for a casual weeknight taco dinner (which is obviously a weekly occurrence). I absolutely adore the overall look of these tops! It seems Dudley Stephens has certainly made turtlenecks cool again! I would choose the red because it’s slightly out of my comfort zone but beautiful enough to make a statement, plus, it feels so festive. I honestly don’t need one. But, boy are these beautiful, especially in black! Love the idea of a family business, especially sisters! So, I can’t think of two more deserving women than two of my three sisters! One is a hard working mom of three BUSY boys, she doesn’t have a lot of help and she makes motherhood look effortless. Though she doesn’t give a lot of attention to herself, I would love to gift her this cozy, comfy, chic tunic. The other would go to my equally busy super sister who also is extremely hard working and the most selfless person I have ever met; her husband was recently diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and she is fiercely protective of his heart and continuing to give him life and love no matter what. Natural Blush for me and my Mother-In-Law! She is such a strong, powerful woman whom I look up to everyday. In the past year-and-a-half, she’s had her leg amputated and her shoulder replaced as a result of a bad car accident. Despite her setbacks, she still does everything and anything she can for her family (including moving from MI to CT full-time to babysit for her granddaughter!). She never shops for herself and would look so chic in this tunic style. She would also love that it covers her bum!

I would definitely want the orange and periwinkle. Orange for me and periwinkle for my mom. From last October until May she underwent therapy for breast cancer and is now healthy and on the mend. I’d love to see her with this chic turtleneck for the winter. Thank you!
I love this post! For the holidays this year, my goal is to shop small for all gifts- I’m thinking about ways that I can support social causes, women entrepreneurs, and small businesses. I love the black fleece turtleneck! I can definitely see myself wearing it multiple times a week throughout the winter 🙂 I’d gift the second fleece to my mom! I love this so much. I think I’d stick to black, though the periwinkle is also fantastic. As someone who finds wool and even cashmere itchy, itchy, itchy, cool fleece items are just the best for winter wear.
(also, curling wands are the bomb, though I still rarely do my hair!)

I love the red fleece for myself because I’m always looking for cozy sweaters in a great red color and it’s perfect for cooler Seattle days. I’d gift the natural blush one to my sweet sister who is in grad school in Portland and always loves cozy sweaters!

I would choose the pink and the natural blush. I would give the blush one to my mom because she has issues with her thyroid so it is super important to her that she keeps her neck warm, and because it would be perfect for her when she and my dad go sailing!

I would choose the blush one for my sister n law and the black one for me. I’m 1 week away from giving birth to our first baby and I have a feeling I will live in black as I’m getting back to my pre-pregnancy weight. I think I would have to go with the light pink for myself and my sister. We both have the same taste, and she has been working from home recently like you! I would definitely pick black for me. I coach a high school swim team and am always trying to wear warm but chic outfits to practices/meets so I look more like a coach and not to get confused as a swimmer! I would gift the second to my other coach as she looks very young too and has the same problem of getting asked if she is a swimmer and not a coach!
