Little Red Dress

Draper James Dress c/o / Similar Pumps / Monogram Necklace (mini size)

Happy Friday, friends! Wow, if I could only put into words the week we’ve had. Anel and Amalia (and eight other members of my family) came down with a horrifying stomach bug that ripped through the family in lightening speed. It’s a miracle that it didn’t hit me but I think it’s mixture of aggressive and constant hand-washing (my fingers are cracked, ha!), lots of vitamins, and pure luck.  We had to push our flight home by a day because they were so sick, but we made it back in one piece.

It’s amazing how when life throws you curve balls, you step up to the plate in ways you never knew how. I pulled two all nighters with the baby and somehow managed to function, pack, take care of her, take care of Anel, and fly across the country. As soon as we got home, I completely crashed but adrenaline kept me going until then. I feel like I’m still catching up on sleep, but everyone is on the mend and that’s all that matters!

I was going to post this cute Valentine’s Day look earlier in the week, but didn’t even crack open my computer until yesterday. Before we left for LA, my friend Khira came over to do my make up and to teach me how to do a Valentine’s Day red lip look. I love how it came out! It’s romantic but not over the top, kind of like this red dress that would be perfect for a Vday date night. Draper James has free shipping and returns right now and a lot of cute dresses like this pink lace one that I love and this flirty frock.

If you don’t love their price point, I love the sleeves on this red dress for only $47 and the fit of this off shoulder one (I have it in green!) for $88.

Before I get into the make up, I want to address that yes, I’m standing in the snow in a dress and pumps and fully realize how insane that is. I blame Carter who swore it would be worth it haha. Anel came home from work as we were finishing this shoot and was laughing so hard at us. Blogging is weird!

Ok onto the make up… This is what Khira did to achieve this Valentine’s Day make up look:

“For this look, I wanted to do a red lip in celebration of Valentine’s Day but in a modern and effortless way. To achieve that, I kept Julia’s brows very natural and her skin clean and glowy because the second you pair a red lip with very “done” brows and skin, it instantly becomes dated. I really believe that anyone can wear a red lip, especially like this!

Here is what I used if you want to recreate it at home.”

Complexion
Bobbi Brown Extra Illuminating Moisture Balm in Golden Glow
Makeup Forever Ultra HD Foundation in Y325 and Invisible Cover stick foundation in 177 as contour/bronzer
Glossier Stretch Concealer in Light and Medium
Glossier Haloscope in Quartz
Diorskin Nude Air Luminizer Powder in Nude Glow
Becca Beach Blush Tint in Guava
Laura Mercier Transluscent Powder

Eyes
Nars Pro Prime lid primer
Urban Decay Midnight Cowboy shadow
Bobbi Brown Gel Eyeliner in Black
Benefit They’re Real Mascara in Black
Ardell Natural Lash Black 110

Brows
Anastasia Brow Wiz pencil in Blonde and Medium Brown (mixed)
Soapbrows

Lips
Glossier Balm dotcom in Coconut
Nudestix Intense Matte Lip and Cheek pencil in Royal
Mac Prep and Prime Fix+ Finishing Spray

PS: For all of you who have been asking for a hair tutorial, I’m going to be posting it next week. This curled look takes me under 10 minutes and can be done in under five if I’m really in a rush.

I love seeing what products Khira uses, but would love it even more if there were a tutorial showing how she applied everything. That’s where I usually get stuck in my own routine! Also, any tips she might have on choosing a lip color that works for your complexion or hair color would be great! Just some ideas.

I agree with Carter, these photos are totally worth standing in the cold 😉 You look so darn beautiful.

I hope you can get fully rested soon and that the sickness stays away from your home for a long time.

I’m so glad you’re feeling better! Also, you look so pretty! I love Glossier! Their red lip stick in zip is great too for an oranger red, and they are coming out with eyeshadow soon! I can’t wait, haha xAllie http://www.theallthatglittersblog.com
