Polar Vortex

Polar Vortex 3

Every year, I say I’m going to book our Spring Break for late January/early February. And every year, I don’t get my shit together in time and every place I want to stay is either all booked up or way over-priced. This year was no different and now the thought of waiting until March 4th (51 days. I’m counting obsessively.), is painful.

We’ll be heading to Tulum for 5 days. I’ve wanted to go there for a few years now and am so excited to experience it for the first time with my husband. Any recs are welcome!

In the meantime, however, I, along with everyone else in the Northeast, have to survive another Polar Vortex. I wish I could explain how cold it’s been here for the last week. It’s physically painful to go outside so when the temperature rose to 27 degrees yesterday, I put on a skirt. Because it felt warm. At 27 degrees.

Of course the snow boots had to stay on given that the snow doesn’t melt within a day out here in the ‘burbs like it does in the city. Weird.

In other big news, Anel and I bought a car this weekend! We realized that living out here, we need two cars to function. We bought a Volvo XC90, a car that I’ve been lusting over for years, but we chose because it’s safe and big (I’m not pregnant, relax!). It felt like such a grown-up thing to do. It was scary and weird and the thought of buying a vehicle that will one day have a carseat for our children was pretty surreal.

Yep, it felt balmy here at 26 degrees yesterday! We picked a week in April for a vacation and it feels so far away!

My mom took my sister and I to Sweden to get her XC90. We loved it! She literally just drove it into the ground after i think 11 years. A great, sturdy car! Enjoy it!

There’s a “heat” wave happening here in Kansas City, too! Anything above zero degrees will now feel warm 😉 I’m looking forward to hearing more about your trip – I’ve heard and seen so many great things about Tulum!
