As much as I hold onto summer weather for dear life, I do love fall clothes. Pre-fall fashion is such a good sweet spot of the in-between moment when I’m ready to be done with boob sweat in sundresses but not quite ready for heavy coats and boots.
It’s all about layering, cozy textures, and rich, earthy tones that seem to be universally flattering. This season, I’ve been gravitating toward elevated basics (shocker) like chunky knits, wide-leg denim, sporty sneakers, and a few statement accessories to keep things fun.
Here is my list of pieces I’ll be reaching for on crisp mornings, school drop-offs, and weekend tea runs.
Clothing:
Oversized denim barn jacket: The perfect throw-on layer for mornings that start chilly and warm up by noon. I love the contrasting collar and oversized pockets.
Camel shacket: Structured yet cozy, this one instantly makes jeans and a tee look put-together. I am buying this one today!
Beige polo dress: I have the short-sleeved version of this and it’s comfy enough for lounging, but polished enough for errands. Love it layered with a striped sweater at the waist.
Green striped rugby: Very into the rubgy shirts making a comeback this fall. The trend is giving back-to-schoo vibes for grown-ups.
Rollneck sweater: I love that J.Crew has brought their classic rollneck design back year after year. It will never go out of style! It comes in a million colors, but this warm chocolatey color feels so fall, and it pairs with everything.
Bright green sweater: A pop of color on Tuckernuck’s classic cashmere crewneck sweater in such a fun shade of chartreuse.
Oversized stripe turtleneck sweater: A forever favorite. Timeless Parisian vibes that I never get tired of. Over leggings or jeans.
Sage rain coat: Lightweight and, most importantly, long. So my leggings don’t get wet on rainy drop-off mornings.
Wide-leg jeans: These have been a favorite (and affordable) find since last fall. They’re easy, relaxed, and perfect with sneakers or clogs.
Burgundy quarter-zip: The way I’m a wh*re for a lululemon quarter zip and this one is a hoodie!! I’m sorry but they really just are that good. Sporty but polished. Pair with the matching leggings for a vibe.
Ribbed crewneck sweater: My go-to night out look in the fall is a tight ribbed sweater tucked into jeans and I really like the color and fit of this one.
Accessories:
Brown leather shoulder bag: This is my new fall bag and I just adore her! She’s sleek, structured, and roomy enough for snacks and all the mom things. It comes in an even bigger size too if you’re looking for something oversized.
Gold knot earrings: I’m bringing my favorite accessory from this summer right into fall.
Resin bangles: These make any neutral outfit way more fun.
Gold buckle belt: A little bit retro, a little bit Hunting wives. Cinches in oversized sweaters perfectly.
Hunter green baseball cap: Cute for bad hair days and weekend walks.
Pendant necklace: Is the statement necklace coming back, you guys? Is this my time to shine!? This is modern spin on my favorite accessory, with just enough detail to elevate a simple knit.
Neutral clogs: Cozy-chic and easy to slip on. I’ll be living in these, 1000%.
New Balance sneakers: I have these in two colors and they’re shockingly versitile and comfy. They go with dresses, denim, and everything in between.
Cozy oatmeal socks: For wearing with sneakers or peeking out of clogs.
Brumate tumbler: Hot take… Brumate water tumblers are about 500x better than Stanleys. I use mine daily. It’s the same vibe but with a silicone mouthpiece and you can lock it so it doesn’t spill AT ALL.
“Team Conrad” canvas tote: I’m dying to put this on a Lands End or LL Bean tote but in the end I’ll probably just go with my initials lol.
