Our 2018 Holiday Cards

I’ve always loved sending out holiday cards, but since having a baby my excitement about them has exponentially grown. Our 2017 cards were my favorite of all time (I can’t with that watercolor of Bootsie), and I don’t know if we’ll ever top them. But I finally got this year’s cards sent out at the end of last week and realized I hadn’t shared all of the photos or the final card yet!

The photo shoot for this year’s card was tough. It was kind of a rush after a long day for all of us and Amalia just wasn’t having it. We talked about using another picture from Bermuda or another family trip where Amalia was actually smiling, but we really wanted to include Boots in our photo because he’s such an important part of our family.

The final shot we used is far from perfect but it captures the way that my little family can make even stressful situations a fun adventure. And by fun adventure I mean Amalia got her first chocolate cookie ever and has since said the word “cookie” every single day. Said cookie made it into the photo because taking it away was not an option.

And I love the mixed plaids… Also Boots laying between us is too amazing. Ok I actually love this photo. And this family of mine. Cookie addictions and all!

The card itself is is by Carrie & Seash who made our cards last year as well. I love the beautiful watercolor detail.

Ok now I need your help. I can’t decide what Amalia should wear for church on Christmas Eve. The Ralph Lauren dress from these photos or the Beaufort Bonnet dress that she wore yesterday to meet Santa (Both are on sale, BTW, if you still need a Christmas dress for your little!) What do you think?

My Top / My Pants (on sale) c/o / Amalia’s Dress / Amalia’s Bow / Amalia’s Shoes

Beautiful card, and I love how much you wanted Boots to be a part of it! So often when people have babies, their fur babies become an afterthought, I’m glad Boots has not!

I know! I was so nervous about that when we had her, but he’s my first baby always and forever 🙂

I vote for the dress from these pictures for Amalia to wear to church on Christmas Eve! We had the same issue with our cards- desperately wanted to use a picture with the whole family (meaning the dog included) but my 18 month old was not smiling in a single one. So we put the whole family on the front and a couple of smiling candids of the kiddo from other times during the year on the back of the card.

I think I’m leaning that way as well! It’s just so cute and classic. I think next year I might go for multiple photos too. It’s the only way with toddlers 🙂

It’s never easy, is it?! I don’t even have kids yet, but we took a Christmas card photo with our puppy and it ended up being so much harder than I expected!! He was actually super cooperative, but I couldn’t get the lighting right so the photo quality wasn’t great. We ended up redoing the whole thing a few days later in the morning to get better light. I was stressed about the delay but we got them out on Saturday and a few people have already texted me that they’ve gotten theirs! Always worth it in the end 🙂
