Why I Hate Subscription Boxes

Love You a Latte Mug

Thank you to FabFitFun for sponsoring this post. All opinions, as always, are 100% my own.

Fact: I’ve always hated subscription boxes. Like they actually really bother me. Anytime someone has sent me one or gifted me a subscription box in the past, I’ve dreaded the day it arrives. The idea of a bunch of sample-sized junk that I didn’t want anyway hanging around my house creating clutter would give me anxiety.

I always ended up giving everything to friends or donating it to Goodwill which would just add one more thing to my to do list.

So when FabFitFun asked me to review their box for them, I was understandably hesitant at first. A lot of my blogger pals had reviewed and loved the boxes though, so I reached out to them to ask about their experience. There was a unanimous answer among them: This one is different.

You’ve probably seen all of your favorite bloggers and celeb influencers promote FabFitFun. You might even be sick of hearing about it. But you know what? I totally understand the buzz now and I’m officially converted. This is one box I can seriously get behind!

FabFitFun Winter Box

What’s different about it?

1. Full sized items- There are no sample sizes that create clutter. It’s all full sized beauty, home, wellness, and fashion items.
2. Things I actually want- I ended up keeping/using every single thing in the box. From a cute wrap/poncho to amazing eye masks, it felt like Christmas getting a bunch of gifts… without any regifting.
3. Major value- It’s only $49.99 but valued at over $200. If you get a subscription, it comes quarterly, FYI.
4. Charity component- Some of the proceeds from each season’s box are donated to a good cause. For the winter box, it’s women’s heart health.
5. Customizable- You can choose some of the products in your box… or keep it a surprise!

My favorite things in the winter box:

Reversible Poncho, worth $70: I was surprised to see such a big/wearable item in a subscription box. You guys know I love a good poncho too! I belted it for a pulled together “mom look”. Meaning that I was wearing yoga pants and a black tee, and by throwing this on with a belt over them, I had a chic outfit.

Eye Masks, worth $16: As a new mom I pretty much have permanent under-eye bags so this is one thing I was super excited to try. They actually worked! They de-puffed and brightened, and I’m saving the rest of the masks for when I need to be somewhere looking fabulous and well-rested.

Exfoliator, worth $75: I have been using Kate Somerville products for my acne-prone skin for a year or two now, but hadn’t tried the ExfoliKate treatment yet. Since getting the box, I’ve been using it weekly and it really gives me a nice glow whenever I do. I typically use it before masks.

Pillow Spray, worth $33: The This Works pillow spray has been popping up everywhere for me lately. I keep seeing it in stores, online, and now in my own hands. It’s made with only essential oils, but comes in a spray bottle to sprtiz on your pillow before bed. It smells amazing and is incredibly calming. I’ve been using it nightly! If you’re a subscriber, you actually get to choose your “wellness pick” each quarter and this is one of the picks for the winter box.

Also included were a mug (so cute), a dainty choker necklace (pictured below), some cozy socks, Ahava hand cream (big fan of that band) and a nude face palette.

Use code LEMONBLOG for $10 off your first box at fabfitfun.com. If you’re interested and want this exact box, sign up sooner rather than later because they tend to sell out. A subscription would make an amazing holiday gift too!

You typed your promo code instead of the name of the charity…

I love that the brands it comes with are companies I’ve heard of and not just decades old inventory. This might be great for my mom! Thanks! xAllie http://www.theallthatglittersblog.com

Oh yes this box sounds incredible! I used to be subscribed to a bunch of beauty and lifestyle boxes and I was always so so disappointed with the sample sized crap I’d get in them. You’re so right in that the FabFitFun box is different. That mug is gorgeous!

Yeah all of that sample sized stuff that you would never want anyway is such a waste of money!
