Happy Friday! I took my first summer trip (I’d call it a vacation but we spent most of it working) this week, and I’m so excited to share the photos and details with you today. I’ve gotten a ton of requests for a guide to Nantucket but this was only my third time there and I don’t know enough yet to give you guys a proper guide, so instead, I recommend checking out Mackenzie’s Nantucket Guide. She has been going to Nantucket every summer for her entire life so she’s kind of an expert. I did include a list of where we shopped below.
Out of all three visits, my favorite restaurants are Lola41 and Cru for what it’s worth.
I was on the island this time with my friends Lauren and Kaki, the sisters behind Dudley Stephens, and our friend and photographer, Julia Dags. The entire group was chill and there were no diva moments so everything felt relaxed and easy-going, even when our flight was delayed and we decided to change our travel plans home at the last minute. Without sounding too woo-woo, Lauren, Kaki, and I are all Cancers so we are on the same vibe a lot of the time.
I had a really hard time being away from Amalia this time around, and I don’t plan to go on any trips without her again this summer (unless something comes up from work) because it was that brutal. I know it’s technically good for both of us but we both felt a little down and missed each other for the three days that I was gone. Our reunion yesterday was so sweet though. I climbed into her crib when she woke up and she hugged me tightly for a good five minutes. I didn’t cry… I swear.
Where we stayed on Nantucket
I was invited out to the island by The Wauwinet Hotel to check out a cottage they have on the property, The Anchorage House, that was redesigned by my favorite home brand, Serena & Lily. I fantasize about Serena & Lily decorating my entire home so I couldn’t wait to see what they did! It was just as beachy and perfect as I imagined it would be. It was light, bright, airy, and comfy. All four of us had a lot of work to do so we spent a lot of time at the kitchen and patio tables with our laptops. We also drank a fair amount of rosé around those same tables!
I am dying to go back with Anel and Amalia because it has multiple bedrooms and two floors so we could put her to bed and then hang out downstairs like we do at home, without needing to go through the hassle of finding a sitter on vacation. The other reason it would be great with kids is that it’s right on the beach so you can walk back to the house to change a diaper or get a snack whenever you need to.
The Wauwinet is about a 15-minute drive from town which I really like because it’s quieter and far from all the tourists, but if you want to be in the center of the action, I’d stay closer to downtown. That said, The Anchorage House comes with a car you can use whenever you want which made it easy for us to go into town every day.
Where we shopped on Nantucket:
goop: Definitely my new fave. Beautiful displays and tons of fashion, home, and clean beauty products.
Milly & Grace: Boho chic fashion and jewelry. Lauren and I bought little friendship bracelets for our group of friends back home.
Native Shoes: While we were in there I learned that you can bring in old Native Shoes and they recycle them by turning them into playgrounds! Plus you get 10% off. Read more about their recycling program here.
Beautycounter: Their little pop-up on the island is so pretty and I’m officially a fan of their skincare after my visit to the store last fall. I am partnering with them this month to talk about their makeup and I can now say that it really is as amazing as everyone says!
Skinnydip Nantucket: This is a cool store because they have a bunch of different preppy brands buy-in for their own section. The selection of product is spot on. I could literally buy every single thing in here.
Lilly Pulitzer: My friends at Lilly DM’ed me when we were there and invited us into the store to outfit my whole group of girlfriends which was beyond generous and so much fun for us. It was the biggest Lilly store I’ve ever seen, but I’m pretty sure I picked the best outfit in the entire place.
Nantucket Bookworks: This is the cutest little independent bookstore. Check it out if you need a beach read on the island or just want to experience that bookstore feeling and smell that bookstore smell.
CJ Laing: There is a large chance you will go broke in this store. The dresses are unreal. I didn’t buy one but wanted them all!

Thank you to The Wauwinet and Serena & Lily for hosting us at this beautiful place! Photos by the amazing Julia Dags.
Did you stop by Monelle? It was my favorite store in college and there’s one on the island. Love the two piece Lilly set!
I didn’t but I wish I had! I always go into the Monelle in Newport but didn’t go in Nantucket. I love their cashmere so much.
Wait wait wait wait…did the Wauwinet get rid of their wood shingles??? I was creeping on the background of the picture of the three of you with the yellow building in the background and thought it looked like the back of the main hotel. I haven’t been since our honeymoon 5 years ago and had seen the info about the renovation but wasn’t sure what all they had done.
No I think they’re just new shingles that haven’t faded yet. The reno was mostly inside I believe!
What gorgeous pictures!! I am planning my first trip to Nantucket for my golden birthday in August, so I love reading all about the great spots on the island! The place you stayed looked so beautiful (and I feel like the glasses of rose really go with the decor ahah)!! Who doesn’t love Serena and Lily everything 🙂 OMG and the shopping there just sounds amazing! Thanks so much for sharing, Julia!

Oh my gosh have the best time ever!!! What a fun way to spend your birthday. Definitely have at least one meal at Cru.
Thank you for sharing your trip, it really looked amazing! I have not been to Nantucket yet! I’ve been dying to go but it’s tough to go to all the places I would like to go with 3 kids! Last year we went to Martha’s Vineyard for the 1st time which was amazing. I am hoping Nantucket either this summer or next. I am dying to check out all the stores you mentioned!! Also can I please say that I adored ALL your outfits
xxMelissa
As an MV regular, I will say that it’s a much easier island with kids. Nantucket is a little fancier and more crowded so maybe wait until their older (not sure how old they are now). But a great place to visit for a parents getaway or girls weekend for sure!
What a fun trip! I’ve never been to Nantucket but it’s on my list!

You have to get there! It’s such a magical little islane.
Love this post! <3
Thanks Liz! So glad you liked it 🙂
These photos are beautiful – so glad you had fun!
I have a silly question for you: How does your packable hat look so lovely and crisp? Do you have a special way of packing it? My hats always look a bit smooshed after time in a suitcase.
Not silly at all! Part of it is that this hat is totally packable and doesn’t wrinkle. The other thing I do is I fill it with small things like bathing suits or underwear/socks and then place it upside down. Then you pack clothes around the brim. Does that make sense?
Yes! That’s so smart and simple. Great hack! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks so much for sharing!! I’m loving all the photos, the outfits, the accessories ! I cannot wait to visit! Good to know about Cru!
