A cozy couch corner

As you’ve heard me say many times on this little ole’ blog-o-mine, I’m by no means a city girl. I live in one of the biggest cities in the world but instead of feeling exhilarated by it, I often become exhausted, claustrophobic, and anxious, especially when I don’t leave it for a while. Escaping to New Hampshire once a month is incredibly necessary for my survival in New York.

Luckily my parents, their spouses, my 3 year old brother (and our English Mastiff, Callie!) live there so we have lots of excuses to make the 4 hour drive north. Last weekend was no exception as it was my dad’s birthday, chock full of celebrations. The weekend was so relaxing and fun, and I especially loved having some QT with Jackson, my brother.

Do you ever feel the need to escape everyday life? If so, how do you do it?

What a view from the backyard! How serene. If I’m really craving a quick escape, I head to my parents place an hour’s drive from the city, or to Buffalo, which feels positively dead compared to Toronto. Sometimes that’s a good thing! 🙂

OMG – the paw on your brother’s shoulder, cuteness overload! After living in two ‘not-as-big-as-NYC-cities’, but still “cities” for the past decade, we definitely needed a break from the bustle. Can totally understand the need to take a breather!

    Cheers!

Lovely photos! Your little brother is so cute! I have a three year old son….it’s such a fun age! I know what you mean about escaping the city! After going to high school in the city for four years, I decided to go to college in NH to breathe in the fresh air and the crowds! Best decision I ever made b/c I met my husband there 🙂

Love your photos!! Sometimes you really just need to get away…I love heading to RI or western MA occasionally to get away from Boston! Love the greys and blues in your dad’s house!

Escaping to my parents’ house is just what I need sometimes, too. But it’s funny, because we don’t live in a city whenever I visit one I feel more free than in our little beach town. Funny how that works!
