We’ve lived in our house for almost a year and haven’t touched our bedroom. For someone who cares so much about sleep and has struggled with it for so many years, it’s hard to believe this hasn’t been a priority for us! But we have a never-ending laundry list of projects and it keeps getting pushed. But I’m ready to commit to this space because I want a cozy, special room for sleeps.
As you can probably tell from my inspiration images (all pinned on my Pinterest too), I really want to go over the top with fabrics and wallpaper and soft, beautiful patterns.
What we have already:
Bedding: I’ve always wanted Serena & Lily’s Westport bedding (pictured above too) and finally went for it when it was on sale about six months ago. It is super soft fabric
Dresser (gifted): Serena & Lily gifted us this gorgeous pale blue grasscloth dresser when we moved in. It’s really beautiful and a little bit different since it’s blue.
Rug: I bought this one-of-a-kind vintage rug from New England loom because I fell in love with it at first site. I’m hoping it fits into our bedroom design. Ideally, I’d layer it over a larger natural rug like jute or sisal. It’s soft and show-stopping but our room is pretty big so we’d need something larger underneath it. If it doesn’t work in here, we might use it in the dining room. The jury’s still out but it’s living in my house somewhere!
Bed: We love our bed and mattress. We finally found one that doesn’t move at all so we can sleep well on it. I’m going to look into the cost of having it re-covered in a different fabric because I don’t love the beige but if not, it’s fine as-is and we can design around it.
Besides that, we have a blank canvas. We have a lot of wall space and room for a chair or two so I’d like to do that if we can. Anel loves the idea of a bench at the end of the bed (like in the image above) so we’ll probably add one of those too. I love the look of oversized nightstands like the blue ones two photos down.
I’m pretty sure Anel won’t go for the fabric behind the bed look but I think it’s so fabulous! Pictured in a few of my inspo photos below.
I also love the look of windows on either side of the bed but we don’t have those and don’t have a budget to put them in right now so mirrors or art above the nightstands are an option to achieve a similar look.
I think this will look beautiful. Will you use a designer for this like the living room or do this yourselves?
I would keep the bed as is. That will cost a lot to recover and it will blend into the room of you do a soft floral wallpaper. Warm neutrals help ground the space.
I think the rug at the end of the bed will be perfect layered over another.
Can’t wait to see the finished product!
Thanks! Not sure yet on a designer, pricing everything out now. And I think you’re right about the bed. We could use that money elsewhere in our budget.
I love the combination between light blue and green. I think they are both very soothing and I would actually choose a wallpaper grounded in that exact shade of green. I think it would make the bed and bedding really pop.
I agree. Would be so pretty and calming.
Not related to the actual decor, I just love the pic with the hand in the air with the coffee mug.
Such a great shot! Even better that it’s Reese Witherspoon’s photo!
Hi! It looks so beautiful! Can you share if you use a Lightroom preset for your photos and if so, which one? I saw you linked to Monika Hibbs’ presets in another post, wondering if it’s one of those? All of your photo’s are so beautiful!!
