Amalia, my 6-year-old, has been begging me for wallpaper in her room since we moved into our house… 4 and a half years ago. I kept thinking she would change her mind or get sick of it so I dragged my feet, but the girl is persistent if nothing else and finally wore me down.
And I’m so happy that she did because the paper and trim paint couldn’t be more “her” or more beautiful. It reminds me of the wallpaper in her nursery which I wonder if she subconsciously remembered from our old house when picking this. When she walked into her wallpapered room for the first time, she screamed that it was the best day of her life 🙂
The paper paired with the green trim and the elevated bedding took her room from a little girl’s bedroom to a more elegant big girl’s room. Minus the Barbie Dream House which a great eye sore but brings her hours of joy every week, making it well worth it. I know that Dream House won’t be around forever and then I’ll miss it… Kind of.
I didn’t want to totally re-haul the room so I told her she could pick wallpaper and I would design her bedding around that. Everything else stayed the same but we toned down the art and tried to clean it all up a bit. As you can see it’s still chock full of little girl things on every surface! Once we move the Barbie stuff one day, we can move her desk and the room will have some space to breathe, but for now it’s a little crowded yet absolutely perfect.
The wallpaper is from a new-to-me company called Little Greene Paint Company which cleverly helps you pick trim paint that exactly matches whatever paper you choose. If you’re local, we had Fabricio and his team from Supreme Home Finishes do the install and painting and they were fantastic, I cannot recommend them more!
