Oversized art is having a moment. When I first decorated my living room, I used this design technique to fill a big white wall. When I found out that Minted created a new size for their limited edition artwork, 40 x 54, I decided to make a big change to my guest room (pun intended!). Again, I had a big plain white that needed to be filled. You can see before photos here.
When my husband and I pick out artwork for our home it’s either a split second decision or one that draws on for way too long. With so many options at Minted, this one took a while because there were so many great options! We finally settled on this print (40 x 54) in our favorite color scheme because it felt laid back and relaxed, just like we want our guests to feel when they stay in our guest room.
The print really changed the feel of the space. We hung it low in place of a headboard (we got rid of the one that was previously there) for a Southern California vibe. Because it felt more modern than the previous artwork (an antique print), I updated the bedding in simple white linen (a new summer favorite) with trendy palm throw pillows and added pops of bright colors on the night stands to offset the cool blue of the art. This face vase adds that extra amount of quirkiness that makes a room interesting.

Seriously write a home decor book. I’d buy it in a heart beat. (; I always love the way you spruce up your spaces. I remember when you did the book shelves like that and how different it was looking at the pages of a book rather than the spine.
I too have been drawn toward more artistic things when it comes to decoration. (:
