I’m so excited to finally be sharing our master bedroom with you guys! It’s definitely not the usual all-white (and gold) with-pink-roses blogger set up… which makes me very happy! This is the room where we rest and recharge and, given my sleep issues, it was important to me that it felt very simple and calming.
This room was a challenge for Shelby, my designer at The Havenly, because it’s a pretty tiny room but I can’t sleep well without a king-sized bed. Together, we made the small room feel bigger and more airy. The original design had gorgeous grey and white wall-paper which would have made it 100x cooler but Anel and I decided to keep the walls a solid color for the re-sale value of the house (adult things are so boring).
We kept the color palate pretty neutral with black, white, greys, and blues. These colors paired with the palest of pinks on the wall makes me feel instantly relaxed and happy. We did this room on a budget so kept our headboard and side tables (Last seen here, look how small Boots was!) but upgraded the rest.
The biggest change to the space was the rug. The last one felt kind of childish and was too small for the room, making the space actually look smaller. The more mature one that actually fits made a huge difference.
We also moved our Gray Malin print over a dresser at the foot of the bed so that we can look at it while reading before bed. I love that it’s the last thing I see at night because it conjures up a beautiful memory of my favorite day ever on our honeymoon in Amalfi—the day we spent on a boat around the coast.
When Shelby first showed me these lamps with black lampshades I was skeptical, but now I think they pull the whole room together! I love how they draw your eye to the black in the throw pillow and the pants in the print. The ones we originally chose were over $300 each but I found an almost identical pair at One Kings Lane for $120 each. They look so high end in person, it’s insane.
For bedding, we moved back to Serena & Lily because they are just my favorite. The sheets feel so good without being too soft which I also hate. Their sheets and duvets are the perfect fabric and I don’t think I can ever go back to anything else now. You can see our last S&L set up in this post from our old apartment. Very different vibe, right?
I have a thing about redecorating my bedroom so although I know this isn’t permanent permanent, it’s here to stay for a while. I’m so happy with how it turned out.
Scroll down for lots of photos and details on every product. I hope you enjoy it!

The room looks great. Do you have any tips on organizing a reach in closet?
Thanks!
Perfect bedroom! When you describe the choice of colours I wasn’t sure what t expect but the pics are awesome! It’s small but clean, peaceful and very modern! Well done you! We sleep on a sofa bed at the moment as we are in a 2 bedroom flat with 3 kids but this is the kind of bedroom I aspire to have one day;) Big hugs from London, Julie x

Just wow, amazing images! When I saw that first image, with the picture if the background, I thought it was actually real.

Looks great! My husband and I recently purchased a home also and our master bedroom is on the smaller side as well. Any tips on how to make clothing and accessory storage work in a small space? Struggling to share a small reach in closet with my husband and trying to avoid having my clothes in every closet of the house!
So lovely! Soothing and calm without being a snooze (ha!). Smart to use the striped bedding as it visually widens the room.
It looks great! I love the pants print above your bed! So cool looking!
Oh my gosh Julia, your bedroom is gorgeous! I love how serene and calm it is, so perfect!

Turned out so well!!
Gorgeous space! Enjoy!
Love the color palette! Just a quick question, what size is your rug?
It is 9×12. The room is really small!
Lovely lamps! You are right they help to pull the room together just like Boots 🙂 ….. I don’t understand why people buy from Kingslane. Prices are inflated often there, and, just like on wayfair, they change the name brand and sell staff for more.BTW, these table lamps are in Target $69.99. They are made by Safavieh.
