If you follow any bloggers or anyone who is even remotely related to fashion on Instagram, you know that we are currently in the depths of Mercedez Benz Fashion Week here in New York City. This season, I’ve had the awesome opportunity to represent The Glitter Guide at a bunch of shows.
This is my first fashion week and it’s been an incredible/interesting experience so far (and I have much more to go!). The shows are super fun because the music blasts, the models don gorgeous frocks, the room is buzzing, and you get to sit mere feet from celebrities (see photo below via The YBF of me behind Solange Knowles looking super busy and important on my phone.
Although exciting, it’s also kind of insane how seriously everyone takes themselves. Fashion is important to me obvi but at the end of the day, no one is curing cancer and it’s really not that big of a deal to be at these shows, though some people would probably sell their first-borns to get in.
Anyway, those are my thoughts for now. I’m exhausted from running around the city in heels (my legs feel the same way they did after my half marathon), going to meetings, brunches, parties, and fashion shows. Wait, am I complaining? This is pretty effing awesome too!

Juila, that show looked fabulous! Sitting that close to Solange, and in the same room with Kerry….#Iwouldie. I hope you continue to have a wonderful fashion week!

I completely understand your feelings on this. While I’d love to be at the shows, at the end of the day its not all that super important in the grand scheme of things.
PS. Your outfit is great! I’m desperately trying to track down a pair of pants like that.
Hahahha — I’m glad someone is HONEST. So many bloggers are just being so serious about fashion week and I wish people would lighten up and just have fun with it. I love your outfit — its very chic and relaxed!
thanks for keeping it real! 😉
Thank you so much for posting this! I’ve been struggling with serious FOMO this week, watching NYFW just through Instagram and blog posts, and I have to keep reminding myself being there is not the end-all be-all. Maybe I’ll make it one day, but until then, nothing I should stress about! I do hope you enjoy the rest of your time there though! xo
Those pants are adorable! I love the Yumi Kim shop in the LES. Discovered it a few years back with Caitlin of Glitter Guide (when we were roomies) and always like going in there to check out their dresses. Need to pin these pants to remember to get them!
