I love working for myself and, at this point in my life, I can’t imagine being back in an office full time again now that I’ve been out of one for over 3 years. But there are also a lot of things I miss about working a more traditional job. Mostly I miss the company of great coworkers who become like family, happy hours and lunch breaks with those coworkers, and getting dressed up for work in the morning. Oh, you know, and a steady paycheck and subsidized health insurance. Minor details…
Throughout my marketing career, I had one pair of black pants that I wore multiple times a week to all of my jobs, even though the companies all had very different vibes: the J.Crew Minnie Pant. Does anyone else remember those bad boys? They don’t make them anymore but I’m pretty sure that these are the 2019 updated version. I lived in those things! I’d wear them with 4-inch heels in my Condé Nast days, with crewneck sweaters and bubble necklaces in my sales days, and with oversized cardigans and booties in my start-up days. Man, those pants were the bomb.
That said, one of my very best friends, as you now well know, has a company called Persifor. Her best-selling Georgie Crop Pants remind me so so much of the Minnie Pant and I decided to show you how I would wear them if I were still working in an office for this month’s re-wear it post (here is last month’s with a Dudley Stephens fleece if you missed it). I like the cropped version because I have super short legs, but she also released a longer version for anyone who is taller/has longer legs.
Outfit 1: Everyday Workday
This is one of those go-to outfits that I would pull out of my closet when I don’t know what else to wear. It’s classic, it’s clean, it’s simple, and it works in many situations. It’s also comfortable enough that you can wear it all day without dying to crawl out of it by 5pm.
The Cuyana zippered tote was always my work tote when I went to the office (and still is when I carry around my computer) because it zips on top and fits my laptop, water bottle, and everything else I need perfectly. Whenever people ask me for tote recommendations, this is always my first answer. I’ve had mine for years and will never get sick of it.

Outfit 2: Velvet & Silk
Navy and black… friends or foes? I say friends but not everyone agrees with that! I have had this Cami NYC tank for the better part of a decade and come back to it over and over again. I love how the silk looks against the plush velvet blazer for some texture-mixing that would make me feel sexy and powerful for a big meeting or an important day of work.

Outfit 3: The Pattern Mix
Fall pattern mixing = the best pattern mixing in my book. I cannot get enough leopard and plaid together lately. And this toned down (ish) mix works even for the office… depending on where you work. Throw the blazer on for important meetings but sit comfortably and easily at your desk in a simple tissue-weight turtleneck and the pants. If pattern mixing isn’t your thing, this turtleneck comes in 14 other solid colors (I have black, navy, and pink). I love them because they’re so lightweight and look great tucked into skirts and pants.

If you work in an office, how would you wear these pants?

Fab outfits for fall! Curious, were you worried about getting hit by a car during this shoot? 🙂
Hahah no. We were both watching each other’s backs (literally) and it was a super quiet street. We shot for about 30 minutes and saw two cars I think!
Loving the lush velvet blazer ! I love anything velvet ! You look fabulous and I love following you and your stories on Instagram. You are one of my favorites !!!
Thanks! I love it too. Haven’t figured out how else to wear it yet, but working on that 🙂 And thank you so so much! Means a lot.
The new Amazon gift guide catalog came in the mail today, it looks like Amazon is the replacement for J Crew shopping. The design is easy to read, clean lines with a scan and shop click. RIP, JC.
Wow. Sounds pretty cool. I’m pretty sure and hope they can co-exist though!
Good ideas! My version of these are the Everlane pants called the work pant. So comfortable.
Ok I need to look into those. Pretty much love every single thing from Everlane ever so I’m sure they’re great!
I love all of these looks on you!
Thanks, Erica!
