Fit & Flare

Vineyard Vines Blue Dress

What. A Week. If you missed it, on Monday I opened up about my struggle the get pregnant over the last year and the devastating losses that my husband and I experienced along the way. Writing about my experience was shockingly therapeutic and the response was overwhelming. I can’t thank you guys enough for your support, prayers, and kind words. I’m beyond excited to crash after the emotionally charged week I’ve had!

In other news, this dress. I’m diggin’ it. Obviously the pattern had me at hello but when I tried it on, the fit really had me sold. It is tight at the smallest point at my waist and flares out at my hips, hiding any problem areas and flattering my curves. I realize that this is the second striped dress I’ve posted this week and I need to do a little stripe detox soon but I am trying to prove a point here, you see.

My husband thinks I have too many striped dresses. My thinking? Never enough! As you can see this one is completely different from the one I wore on Wednesday. It’s it’s more fitted (and flattering), and fancier so could be worn to more casual summer weddings, baby showers, and events. I always like to have a dress like that in my back pocket and this season, this will be “the one”. Also the detail on the back is incredible. I forgot to shoot it this week but check it out in this photo from the last time I wore it.

Last weekend I wore it for a date night with Anel at Rowayton Seafood, a place we’ve been dying to try for a while now. I love the town of Rowayton because it always feels like I’m on a beach vacation when we go there. The restaurant itself was adorable, on the water, and with a menu full of summery items like oysters, lobster rolls, and cold glasses of chardonnay… all of which I ordered and ate happily. I hope we can go back this weekend!
