Today, my holiday festivities begin, in a way, as my mom arrives in town this afternoon. Tomorrow we’re going to do a massive grocery haul as we have three dinners in a row to host: Mexican food with my uncle and cousins on Friday, Christmas Eve’s seven fishes dinner on Saturday (it’s an Italian thing), and then a big for Christmas dinner with my family and in-laws. My sister and her boyfriend are coming up on Saturday with her puppy, so we’re going to have a full house! I’m so excited to be hosting my first Christmas… slash kind of nervous.
After that, my sister, Anel, the two pups, and I are packing up and driving to New Hampshire for our second Christmas celebration with my dad, Jennifer, and Jackson. (Read more about holidays with divorced parents here.) Then we head back to CT for New Years Eve with my college friends, one of my favorite yearly traditions. I’m hosting for the second year in a row. We’ll cook dinner together, drink wine, and play games. It’s always such a fun night with zero pressure!
Since we’ll be at home for Christmas itself, I probably won’t get too dressed up, but will need a little festive flair. I see a lot of plaid in my near future. How cute is this little plaid ribbon that came on a gift I got last week? I threw it over my pony tail for a holdiay party last week and will probably do the same on Christmas. All of a sudden I just got totally sick of my short hair, so I’ve been wearing it up pretty much daily lately. I’m hoping it grows quickly!
Speaking of quickly, 2017 is around the corner, and I’m excited to be taking off most of the rest of the year. I’ll be back tomorrow with a recap of 2016, including all of my favorite posts of the year, then I’ll see you again in January. In the meantime, keep up with my festivities on Instagram and Snapchat.

Perfect more casual outfit to wear for the holidays! I ordered that shirt over a month ago from J.Crew to wear to Christmas parties and it still has yet to arrive! So sad! Perfect outfit for Christmas though.

The seven fishes! My parents have amazing totally old-school Italian neighbors that are like family. Every year when we take over their Christmas presents Marella is cooking the seven fish for their huge family. Fish = Christmas for me now! Hope you have a wonderful Christmas!

Oh wow, three dinners?! We’ve got our hands full with just Christmas Eve, which never works out to be all seven fish, but no one really notices or cares, haha. it does sound like you have some very fun festivities ahead of you, so have a merry christmas and a happy new year!

That ribbon is so adorable Julia! I love it! xo Devon Seventeen Dresses
I’m hosting my family for Christmas this year as well, so I can relate to your feelings of being both excited and nervous! I randomly picked up some cute plaid ribbon at Target and now I’m thrilled to have an inspiration for using it! A plaid bow is the perfect way to make a casual ponytail more festive. ps I’ve had good success taking Biotin to increase my hair and nail growth.
Im growing my hair out too. Except mine is growing out from a pixie! It’s almost long enough for a pony tail. Love the plaid ribbon! I own that blazer and blouse too 😉
I love your festive plaid look! This is fab for a casual holiday at home. Good luck with all your hostess-ing! You’ll be great I am sure 🙂
