I’ve had my eye on this plaid skirt for a long time. I finally pulled the trigger and bought it. The price was definitely right ($44) and I thought it would be so cute for holiday dinner parties and such. When I got it, I was a little disappointed because it was longer in person than in the photos, but I ended up hiking it up and wearing it at my waist and it fit a lot better. To be completely honest, it’s not the best quality, but it looks really cute and for the price, I think it’s still great.
I’ll for sure be wearing it a lot this season!
For today’s post, I paired it with a turtleneck sweater layered over a striped shirt for a little pattern-mixing flair (shocker). I wish I could say I wore this outfit somewhere fabulous, but the funny part about these photos is that I stubbed my toe really hard last week and am not sure if it’s broken, but pretty sure it is. My entire left foot is bruised and I couldn’t actually put any weight on it while taking these pics. I also couldn’t walk any farther than my front door which is such a bummer because I feel like a holiday backdrop really would have made this post…
Ahhh, the life of a blogger. So glamorous, so real.
But I still wanted to share this outfit with you because I love it so much! Once it cools down even more, I’ll add black tights to the mix. I have an event tonight and if it’s not too freezing, I’m going to wear this exact outfit but with flats so that I can actually walk. I just got these sparkle flats that would be perfect with this look.
FYI the skirt is selling out quickly, so buy it now if you’re on the fence!

Oh my goodness I did the exact same thing to my toe a couple months ago (I saw your bruise photo on Insta stories…I had the same nasty bruising)! Never did find out if it was a really bad sprain or a slight fracture…it definitely took several weeks to heal but daily icing helped a LOT. I had just started a new job at the time and honestly the worst part was having to explain my limp to my new coworkers as the product of a stubbed toe lol. Best wishes for speedy healing!!
Several weeks? Oy! I’m so over it already haha Glad to hear yours is feeling better though xo
It might have healed faster had I actually listened to my mom and friend who told me to put arnica gel on it (moral of the story: always listen to your mother! LOL). You might try arnica?
What a lovely holiday outfit! You look so pretty. I love that it’s festivewitjout being overly fancy (sequins etc) so it can be worn to lots of types of venues. Thanks for sharing! I hope your toe feels better soon, xxAllie http://www.theallthatglittersblog.com
Thanks so much, Allie! xx
I love this skirt! I am constantly on the hunt for great plaid skirts that are affordable and flattering. This one seems great and J. Crew Factory is always a go to (can’t believe I missed it). The colors are just so perfect for the holidays.

It’s so good! You definitely have to hike it up to make it flattering but if you can do that, you’re good to go 🙂
I was wondering how you got your foot in those heels! Hope it feels better soon.
Haha it was a challenge that’s for sure 🙂
Oh my goodness. Your fall and winter looks are so amazing. I wish I could raid your closet. And thank you for incorporating affordable options! I love that I can actually recreate a lot of your outfits within my budget! I hope your toe feels better!
I broke my big toe this summer and it was horrible!!! Took forever to heal! I hope you have a speedy recovery! What is the waistband like on this?? I’m 17weeks pregnant but not sure how it will fit! Still navigating maternity wear vs. non maternity wear and how to wear things!!!
You’re holiday ready! This skirt looks amazing on you!
Hope you feel better soon.

I don’t often buy based on blogs, let alone come back and rave about it, but this skirt was so fabulous, I couldn’t resist. I wavered because the reviews said that it was voluminous, which if done wrong could just make me look bigger. But I bought it and planned to wear it for Christmas Eve. Then my sister bought VIP access tickets to the Downton Abbey exhibit, and the skirt seemed like a fun choice to wear and then to a festive dinner afterwards. BUT last minute, before we met my sister and her husband uptown, my husband and I stopped at this wine shop in the Village called Some Good Wine, because they were having a tasting of Kyle MacLachlan’s wine from Washington State, and I thought it might be fun to meet him and buy a couple of bottles maybe to drink with dinner later. I bought a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon reserve, which he signed, and his Syrah, and he offered to have my husband take a photo. Given his well-known Scottish heritage, the coincidence that I was wearing this skirt was amusing–I do wonder if I thought I was wearing it in his honor. I love Kyle, but not that much, lol.
Anyway, friends on social media commented far more on the skirt than on the fact that I was standing with Kyle MacLachlan!! And it definitely makes me look thinner, not bigger. And the kicker–I got it at an even more discounted price because it went on sale right after I ordered it and they gave it to me for the lower price. Thanks! Carolyn @nycfoodscape.
