Re-Wear It: Plaid Skirt

For this month’s re-wear it post, I wanted to share how I wear one of my favorite pieces of clothing for holiday, a tartan skirt. When I cleaned my closet out with a stylist last month, she tried to get me to get rid of it because it isn’t something that you can wear very often, but it makes me so happy and I love having it for Christmas parties every year! Even if you are building a capsule wardrobe, consider keeping pieces like this that you can wear seasonally.

Plaid Skirt: I bought this skirt from J.Crew Factory two years ago and I love bringing it out every holiday season for date nights and drinks wtih friends. The first time I wore it, I paired it with a tight black turtleneck sweater and TBH that is how I wear it most often (pic below that I tried to copy again above). They don’t make this exact skirt anymore but this year’s version is even better! I love this skirt because it’s the perfect tartan pattern that will never get old.

Dudley Stephens Fleece (gifted): I mean at this point when have I not worn my DS fleeces? My friend Lauren, the co-founder, gave me this red one last year to wear on Christmas morning and it’s my favorite one for holiday. I even wore it for our holiday card photos last year. My favorite way to wear it, though, is with PJ pants on cozy weekend mornings at home.

Spanx Tights: My tights are worth mentioning because they are the only pair of black tights I own. They are the absolute best. They’re nice and thick so they don’t get runs and they feel warm in cold weather. I wash mine all the time (never dry) and this same pair has lasted for 3 years now. But the best part is that they really suck you in on top without being uncomfortable. I don’t know how Spanx did it but I can’t recommend these enough if you’re in the market for a pair of classic black tights. Last seen here.

Tartan Scarf (gifted): Do you guys remember last holiday season when J.Crew invited me to come ice skating with them and it was one of my favorite nights of the whole year? That’s where I got this tartan scarf! I wear it under my coat pretty much every day in December but you can see more of the ice skating outfit below too.

I love this!! A plaid skirt is so timeless. I have all of mine all laid out and ready to be worn for the rest of the year! I really wish I had a matching plaid blazer for one of my skirts because I am really feeling the all plaid #lewk 🙂 Happy holidays, Julia!

That stylist was wrong. The skirt is a classic!

(Personally I would wear it even outside of the holidays.)
