Tree Shopping + Cyber Monday Sales

Coming back from a five day weekend has me both sad to say goodbye to the extra time with Anel and Amalia (all three of us don’t usually get more than a day in a row together because of his work schedule) and reinvigorated for the weeks ahead. I have a few fun projects coming up that I’m really excited about, plus the usual holiday festivities are about to start.

I feel like this is my first year in Connecticut where I’m actually excited for the holiday season. Last year I had made a good group of friends, but was so sick in my first trimester that I only went to one holiday party and literally spent the whole night trying not to throw up! We finally found a babysitter who can watch Amalia in the evenings, so we’re going to take advantage of that a few times this month, although I still feel insane mom guilt whenever I’m not around to put her to bed which has only been two or three times ever so far.

This weekend, however, was all about spending time together as a family. We drove up to Rhode Island for Thanksgiving on Wednesday and Amalia met my extended family for the first time which was so special. I’m pretty sure no one will care about seeing me or Anel in the foreseeable future. It’s all about the baby. Any other moms feel me on that one?

Before we left on Friday, I took her to my grandparents’ graves so she could “meet them” in a way. It was simultaneously beautiful and heart breaking, but I’m glad that I did it. They would have loved her so much, and in that moment I felt proud to be her mom.

On Saturday, we went to get our tree. It was a beautiful warm day which made it even more fun… not that you would know it from these photos. Amalia was not feelin’ the tree farm, but since we brought it home and put it up, she’s positively smitten. I’ve been sitting her in her Bjorn Bouncer in front of it and she’ll stare and laugh for like 30 minutes. Turns out Christmas trees are the best baby distraction ever… Who knew?

I tried to spend as much time offline as possible this weekend, but now I’m kicking myself for doing almost no Christmas shopping with so many good sales. Luckily a lot of them are still going strong (or stronger!). I’ve listed my favorites below.

But before you check those out, make sure to pop by my Instagram today to see what I’m giving away this week. It’s maybe my favorite giveaway so far!
