This weekend made me feel like summer is here for real, in the flesh, and it won’t be leaving anytime soon. Yipee! I was itching like crazy to get out of the city for a last minute weekend getaway but my husband wanted a low-key two days at home so I decided to respect that and not throw a fit . . . aka marriage. I figured we better make the most of the nice weather and have a fun couple of days here.

I started it out with a very sweaty bang by hitting up Soul Cycle on Friday night, a time when I wouldn’t usually work out but it set the tone for the whole weekend. After sweating it out, Anel and I ordered in, drank a bottle of rosé (from this list, of course), and watched 4 episodes of Orange is the New Black. Hey it was raining, don’t judge!

Saturday was spent with friends drinking sangria and eating small bites at the Standard Plaza followed by an insane dinner at Toro (think grilled octopus, beef cheek toast, and bone marrow). We found ourselves in our usual spot in Central Park on Sunday for some sunny lounging and reading before watching the Bosnia-Argentina game last night.

We packed in a lot and for once ever, I didn’t make any plans ahead of time. Our spontaneous decisions this weekend forced me to let go of my usual controlling nature and just have a good time. Going with the flow isn’t really my strong suit but I’m working on it.

During all this fun, Rebecca and I managed to squeeze in a quick photo shoot in the park to feature this comfy dress and shoes combo that screams relaxed weekend. I haven’t worn a pair of Keds in years but I can’t get enough of this pair of white eyelet sneaks that make me feel like Taylor Swift.
