Today’s post is a little different and about a topic that I didn’t realize was so important for woman until last week. Like me, you’ve probably been wearing the wrong bra size for years.
Last week, the Chantelle Paris team invited me into their beautiful show room for a proper bra fitting. I emailed them what I thought was my bra size so they could have some on hand for me to try on. I was off. Way off. As in a whole cup size off. I didn’t realize how uncomfortable I was in my own clothing because my bras were so off. Now that I’m actually wearing the right size, I feel like I stand taller and am more comfortable in my own skin. True story!
I learned a lot from one of their bra fitting experts about how bras should fit and what to look for in a good one so that you, too, can have this life-changing under garment experience:
1. From the outside in. When you buy a new bra, it should be snug on the loosest hook. That way, as the bra stretches out over time, you can use tighter hooks and it will last longer. Who knew?
2. Learn the “bend and shake”. When trying on bras, bend down and pull up everything you got right into the cup so there is no gapping at the top of the fabric.
3. Different bras for different shirts. A nice full coverage style doesn’t look so cute but will totally change your tee shirt game. A lower, sexier cut is probably better for lower-cut tops and dresses.
4. Not all bras fit the same! I went home with 5 different styles in 2 different sizes. Your bra size does not have to define what you wear. Only buy what feels right.

Very helpful tips. I’m inspired to go get a fitting myself!
Reading your blog makes me feel relaxed!

Very useful guide! Finding a bra that fits does not have to be stressful. When you lift your arms, your bra shouldn’t move. If the cups are wrinkling, the size is too big. If your band rides up in the back, go down a band size.
