Earlier this week, I had a shopping/styling session with Kerry. She reached out to me because she wanted to add some excitement to her work wardrobe. She owned a lot of really beautiful pieces, but wasn't sure how to work them into an entire look. After sending me some photos of her favorite looks, I noticed that she wore a lot of gray, blue, and black.
My friend forwarded me this recipe for spicy green beans from VegNews Magazine last week. At the same time, my CSA provided me with a gigantic brown paper bag full of green beans. The dish was meant to be made!
I modified their recipe slightly by substituting agave nectar for sugar and cutting the amount of peanut butter.
Last month, I got this cookbook for my birthday. I was so overwhelmed with the array of delicious-looking, healthy recipes, that it took me until now to finally cook something from it! Since my fiance and I are trying to cut back on our sugar intake, I chose a vegan, sugar-free, full of taste dessert to start.
I'm writing this post on Sunday night, sitting at our oversized dinner table in Martha's Vineyard, listening to the crickets outside, and reliving the last two days. They were spent laughing in the sand with my family and Anel, wearing many variations of this outfit running along the ocean, eating enough grilled fish, tomatoes, and corn to feed a small country...and drinking enough wine to wash it down.
Is it really almost that time of year again? A time when the sun starts to sink in the Hudson River earlier and earlier each day. A time when we all avert our eyes from the shop windows featuring chunky sweaters, wool pants, and colors like burnt orange and forest green. This summer is flying by and I refuse to let the upcoming cold weather ruin the last few weeks of hot yellow sunshine and weekends at the beach.
