The holiday season is tough for me. Although I love the decorations, the music, the food, the parties, the sparkles and the sentimentality of it all, it's a bittersweet time of year. We had such a strong Christmas tradition growing up that when my parents got divorced and my grandparents passed away, everything changed drastically within a number of short years.

I post a lot of outfits here on Lemon Stripes but if I'm being totally honest, I usually wear different variations of the same look each season. For fall/warm winter, it's this: leggings, boots, sweater, quilted vest (this one is on serious sale today), and blanket scarf.

Every year around this time, we head up to my dad's house in New Hampshire for his annual tree-trimming party. He's been having this party for over 30 years, where friends and family travel from around New England to cook and eat good food, cut down a tree, and decorate the house for the holidays.

I don't wear a lot of dresses, especially in the winter. But when I found this stretchy, navy lace dress at Nordstrom, I had to have it for the holiday party season. It is incredibly flattering and comfortable and gives a holiday vibe despite it's neutral color (let's be real, navy is the new black).
