I love entertaining. We built our patio partially so we could do it more. And we finally got to take advantage of that this weekend for my birthday party. It was such a fun and beautiful night with my closest friends and I even stayed up until midnight... unheard of for me!
I looked around at one point and just felt this giant rush of gratitude that we've cultivated such a beautiful group of loyal, supportive, loving, fun friends.
Last night Luca was teething and having a hard time falling asleep. Anel was outside mowing the lawn and I was putting Amalia down alone so I brought her in to help me soothe him. I picked him up to rock him and together, Amalia and I sang him You Are My Sunshine until he fell asleep, lightly snoring on my shoulder.
This post is random and disjointed (also how I'm feeling these days) but I finished a great book and a great documentary this week featuring two strong, incredible women and wanted to share them with you guys.
Mean Baby by Selma Blair: I never thought much about Selma Blair but after reading her book she and her story will live rent-free in my mind forever.
Last night we kicked off the long weekend with our first time at the famous Westport town fireworks. It was possibly the best night of Amalia's life, running around with her friends, glowsticks, and popsicles. Watching her so happy and in her element made it one of the best nights of my life too!
But it was bittersweet and felt weird to be celebrating our country's independence and freedom when so many people are not free in so many ways right now.
