Three Protein-Packed Smoothies

Three Protein-Packed Smoothies

A few months ago I shared my go-to smoothie recipe, but it’s been a hot summer in Connecticut so I’ve been playing around with a ton of recipes over the last few months that I wanted to share with you guys!

My rule of thumb is to always include protein and fats so that it’s not just straight sugar from all the fruit. The protein/fat combo keeps me fullest for the longest.

Fats are easy to include and my go-tos are nut butters, coconut oil, or raw almonds. Protein can be a little tricker, however. I’ve tried probably every protein powder out there and I can’t stomach most of them. That fake sugary taste makes me gag! While I’m into the collagen-based ones half the time, I love having a good vegan option for the other half.

Unfortunately I couldn’t find a great vegan protein powder until recently. ALOHA makes a great plant-based protein powder packed with omega-3s, magnesium, and a ton of other nutrients. Plus it’s organic, vegan, and non-GMO. Um, yes please! My favorite is their vanilla flavor but also randomly love banana which might sound different but it’s delish.

The best part for me is that they don’t sweeten it with stevia which is often way too sweet for me. They use monk fruit extract which isn’t overpowering.

So without further ado, here are three of my best summer smoothie creations as of late. I hope you love them! And please share your smoothie recipes below as I’m always looking to expand my repertoire.

Berry Blast Smoothie

Berry Blast Smoothie

I add oats and chia seeds to this classic berry blend so that it fills me up even more. To get your greens, add a cup of your spinach or kale!

1 cup, milk of your choice (plus more for as needed for consistency)
1 cup, frozen mixed berries (or whatever berry you prefer!)
1 frozen banana
1 tblspn, almond butter
1 tspn, chia seeds
¼ cup oats
1 scoop ALOHA vanilla protein powder

Smoothie Recipes

Peaches & Green Smoothie

I got kind of stuck in a rut with my green smoothies but when peaches came into season, I created this one which I love so much. It’s creamy, decadent, delicious, and guilt-free.

1 cup, milk of your choice (plus more for as needed for consistency)
2 large scoops, unsweetened yogurt (I use dairy-free but whatever you have works)
½ cup frozen peaches
½ frozen banana
1 tblspn chia seeds
1 tspn, coconut oil
1 scoop ALOHA vanilla protein powder
1 scoop ALOHA superfood greens

Carrot Colada Smoothie

Although it’s orange, this smoothie contains no actual oranges. Something about too much citrus in smoothies doesn’t sit well with me.

1 cup, milk of your choice (plus more for as needed for consistency)
Large handful of baby carrots
2 tblspns, unsweetened coconut flakes
Small handful of frozen pineapple
½ tspn, grated or chopped ginger
¼ raw cashews
1 scoop ALOHA vanilla protein powder

Thank you to ALOHA for sponsoring this post. All opinions, as always, are 100% my own.

These sound so good! Do you mostly use these for breakfast and lunch or do you ever do smoothies for dinner? Is there a “best time” of day to have them health wise?

I usually make them for breakfast and then if I’m craving something sweet in the afternoon or after dinner, I try to go for something like this instead of ice cream.

These photos are so vibrant- I love them! What camera do you use? Also, do you use a high-powered blender for your smoothies (like a Vitamix or Blendtec)?

How do the superfood greens taste? I’ve purchased another brand before to add to my smoothies but the flavor is so strong that I don’t like it. I think I should give this one a try.
