Dress c/o Plenty by Tracey Reese
When pitched to us, the thought of going to Disney World as a couple with no children at first sounded insane. Waiting in lines in 90 degree heat? Battling the crowds to watch fireworks? No thank you. Jim Gaffigan described my thoughts best. But this weekend, the amazing team at Disney’s Golden Oak, showed us how to experience it all in luxury. And I mean serious luxury. Let me explain…
The Golden Oak community is a group of homes on Disney land. Yes, people actually live at Disney. The houses are insanely gorgeous (we got to tour one!) and created for the higher-end Disney fan. It’s on the same property at The Four Seasons which is definitely the place to stay if you’re looking for a calmer, more luxurious hotel for your trip. There is a quiet, adult-only pool and a lazy river that you can tube around for hours where we spent most of our time. It was our saving grace yesterday when temps were over 90 degrees with no breeze.
They also have some amazing restaurants that Golden Oak residents can frequent whenever they want (lucky!) including an adorable little breakfast/snack/gelato shop, Lickity Split, that we frequented three times. It was there that I found an acai bowl and green juice on Disney property. It was a miracle!
When we actually explored the parks, they hooked us up with a VIP tour guide, Erik, who was the best ever. He picked us up, took us in a back entrance to avoid crowds getting in and then took us to all of the attractions we wanted to see with a fast pass so we could cut all the lines. No 90 minute waits for this girl! He knew everything about everything despite me trying my hardest to stump him. When I wanted a churro, one magically appeared in my hand. When I asked if there was any matcha around, he led me straight to Starbucks. It was pretty unreal. We hit all of my favorite childhood rides from Splash Mountain to the Haunted Mansion. Without the lines, we were able to go on (literally) 15 rides plus have lunch in 5 hours.
The night of our Magic Kingdom adventure, the Golden Oak team hooked us up with a Venetian wine cruise on the river (just me, Anel, four types of wine, and an insane amount of apps) before dinner at The Boathouse which was incredible.
All in all there were some parts of the trip that were a bit much for me but if I ever come back to Orlando, I know how to do it up right!

Hi:
Can you let me know the sizing of the cute striped dress. How is the quality?
Looks adorable on you!!
Hi! I’m a size small (true to size) and the quality is pretty good for a dress like this! LOVE this dress.
So just for clarification since you eluded to it without actually stating it (maybe I missed it somewhere) this trip was not paid for by you? Also want to comment on two snaps (1 – peace out Orlando, See you never!!! and 2 – never been so excited to be in Connecticut) you come off sounding incredibly ungrateful for being afforded and opportunity to take a vacation (not on your dime). Perhaps that was not your intention but I think it is important that you know that is how it came off.
Sounds like such a fun trip!

Katie

I’m curious to know why you deleted the comment from the other day which claimed you snap chatted a not so nice review of Orlando yet posted such a positive review on your blog. I don’t follow you on SC but as a reader I wouldn’t be too happy to hear that your snapping one opinion and blogging the opposite . Perhaps the author of the comment deleted it but usually that appears in the comment section so I’ll assume you deleted it.
Any reasons why? Was there some the about Disney/Orlando that you didn’t like?
Hi there! I deleted the comment because I try very hard not to engage in unwarranted negativity here and it’s hard to do so without sounding defensive… That being said, if
I had Snapchatted from the Orlando airport because we had a bad experience there which had nothing to do with our time at Disney. The comment from the reader was completely out of context which is why I deleted it!
Thanks for the response! Looked like a nice trip to me. I never knew Disney had an adult resort!
Thank you for clarifying. I was wondering the same thing, probably a lot of people are that saw the “bye Orlando, see you never” snap. You’re awesome and I truly appreciate your honest reviews
