Blogging can be a weird thing… especially the fashion piece of it, for me at least. I would love to be one of those bloggers who just has a photographer following me around everywhere, documenting my easy breezy beautiful life, always perfectly dressed and made up. LOL! That is so far from my reality, so I work with what I’ve got.
I usually meet up with my photographer, Stephanie, once a week, to shoot 2-3 looks so I have them to post here and on Instagram. Everything else you see from the weekend or at home is shot by Anel or myself. The problem with our once-a-week deal is that we have to shoot no matter what the weather is like, because that’s the time when she has a sitter, and the time that I have blocked off.
This is where it can get weird and quite humorous on certain weeks. The day we were shooting this outfit, it was 82 degrees out. I had worn this exact look only a few days before and felt perfectly comfortable and then BAM! the weather shifted out of nowhere. Needless to say, I was sweating profusely under my cape and sweater combo. Somehow I don’t look totally uncomfortable and, now that it’s chilly again, I’m excited that we actually shot this look despite the heat, because it’s one of my favorites for fall.
If you’re following along on Snapchat right now, you’ve seen me wearing it in Montauk again this week!
So yeah, blogging can be a lot of smoke and mirrors, but that’s not always the case. Shooting this post reminded me that, as I see other influencers I love and admire looking perfect 24/7, we never know what’s really going on behind the lens. I don’t mean that in a creepy way, I mean it as a reminder to not compare yourself to other people on social media. Ok, rant over!
I’ve been on a cape kick lately, so when Ellsworth & Ivey offered to send one over, I jumped right on that. I’ve been eyeing their blazers on Tuckernuck for a while now, but when I saw this blush cape, I fell madly in love… and then it was even better in person than it is online. I can’t get enough!
For this look, I wore it over my favorite sweater that you’re probably sick of by now (you’ve seen it here in grey and in this pile) and my new navy leggings pants that couldn’t be more comfortable. I also have them in black (last seen here).
PS my friends at Ellsworth & Ivey are giving you guys 20% off everything on their site through the end of November! Use code LEMONSTRIPES at checkout. I have my eye on this hunting blazer.

I understand what you mean about working with the time you have. Luckily, I have a sweet coworker who shoots me on our lunch a couple times a week and we have it down to a science, but it’s certainly not glam.

Oh man you are so lucky!!
Loving this cape! While I usually lean towards traditional fall colours this year I am completely enamored with blush pink! Love that you paired it with leopard, its cute and fresh! Happy that you shared that little behind the scenes. I love blogging but I still feel like a weirdo taking fashion photos outside! 😀 My kids are my frequent photographers and they refuse to shoot if someone is walking nearby so we stand around pretending to talk until the coast is clear 😀 Loving your snaps and IG posts from Montauk, enjoy your time away! xx Rox-Anne, Celebratingthislife.ca
I totally agree! I can’t get enough of the blush trend even with the change of season. Love the story about your kids shooting your pics, so funny!
Oh my gosh I love the cape, so gorgeous!!

Love a good cape! So excited to break mine out this fall. The blush color on this one is so pretty. And I’m obsessed with leopard shoes — currently wearing a pair of leopard loafers as I type!
