Romper and shoes c/o / Bag / Sunnies / Bracelet
Last week I talked about my summer of saying “no” and this weekend it finally felt as if it paid off. I said yes to the things I wanted to do (all locally) and didn’t have to worry about packing and unpacking, spending hours in the car (or on a plane), or finding a place for Boots to stay. It was our third weekend in a row at home and it was… glorious. As I’m writing this post (11:10pm on Sunday night), I feel so happy, so fulfilled, and so grateful for the life we’re building in Connecticut.
That being said, one of the highlights of the weekend was a night in the city. When we lived there for so many years, we never fully appreciated the beauty of New York summer nights. We were always antsy to get out of the heat and find a beach. Now that we’re on the other end of that, it’s exciting to be a part of that pulsing energy for a night, while coming home to our quiet neighborhood of course.
We drove in on Saturday evening for Chandon’s summer fête on The Highline. It was Instagram heaven- colorful, playful, and exciting. I could really get used to entering every room with a ribbon arch (see below). For a fabulous party on a hot summer evening before the sun goes down, I had no idea what to wear… until I saw this ruffled denim romper. I mean, does it get any better than that? Definitely size up if you pick one up for yourself. The romper itself had me at hello but when paired with these adorable red and white espadrilles (under $100), I found maybe my favorite outfit of summer. BTW, if you think the front of this romper is cute, scroll down to see the back. Too cute!
After the party, Anel and I met up with my cousin Dan for a lovely al fresco dinner at Cookshop followed by gelato (dairy-free coconut sorbetti for me) and a leisurely walk through Chelsea. It was one of those beautiful summer nights where magic is in the air and the sunset is on fleek. I literally couldn’t stop smiling!
This week is going to be busy but short as we’re heading back to Newport for the 4th with my family. Despite the short week, I’m taking off Wednesday to head to the beach with some friends and am pretty psyched on the fact that now that I work for myself, I can do things like that. Granted, I’ll be up all night working but #worthit, right?
