I Bought Myself a Moto Jacket

I have wanted to buy a moto jacket for years. My sister has a few and always looks super cool wearing them. I see them on girls out and about and always love the way they look. They’re easily chic and the perfect layering piece for milder months.

But every time I try them on, they look boxy and silly on my long torso. I was at Anthropologie last week and this one was randomly hanging in the dressing room so I tried it on (kismet, clearly!). It fit like a glove, had a perfect amount of stretch, and actually looked good on me. I ran out of the dressing room for a price check, thinking it would be hundreds of dollars, but I was happily surprised to find out that it was faux suede and under $150. Double win!

And I have worn it almost every day since. It makes me feel like a cool mom (not a regular mom!) and has been just the right amount of coat for our spring-y weather lately. It makes my jeans and a tee uniform that much more exciting. And it will for sure be a re-wear it post in the near future.

On an unrelated note, I want to give you guys an update on our tiny screened porch (kind of pictured above and below). It’s about 7′ x 7′ and painted all white. We installed plexiglass over the screens to keep it a little more insulated for winter and have been basically using it as a firewood storage room since we moved in. But we really want to use it when the weather warms up and have been talking about how to best do that.

It’s too small to comfortably fit a table and chairs which was my original plan, so we scratched that. Anel has been pushing for a swing chair for reading books and drinking his morning coffee. I finally gave in because I can just see him and Amalia snuggling up on it for hours and that makes me so happy. So we’re installing this chair in the next few weeks. We’re going to cover it with indoor/outdoor pillows and make it a little bohemian reading space. I can’t wait for it to all come together.

Have a great weekend!

Love moto jacket. Is yours a petite? I almost pushed the purchase button but am 5’9 and wonder if the jacket would be long enough for me (I wear a size 4 or small). I love the blue color too! I may have to stop by the store today…..looks so cute and perfect on you!

It’s not petit, but it’s an XS because they didn’t have any smalls left and I needed it ASAP haha. I have a SUPER long torso though if that helps with sizing.

I think you will love the swing. When we moved in to our new house it had a swing and I didn’t think much of it, but we love it and use it all the time for reading and popsicles on the front porch!
