I’ve been trying to focus on shopping my closet more often and shopping in stores less lately which feels really good from an environmental and financial standpoint, but I’m human, it turns out, and still love the feeling of finding that perfect piece of clothing that just speaks to me!
I had a gift card to J.Crew and decided to finally splurge on this striped halter jumpsuit last week that I’ve been wanting all summer long (PS it’s 30% off with code OHMYSALE). It went on backorder for a while, but it was on sale and in the window and I literally bought it on the spot, wore it out of the store, and didn’t take it off until I went to bed that night.
People stopped me on the street all day to tell me how cute it was. I think I was glowing from wearing it because it just made me feel so good! That’s the kind of clothing that is worth a splurge, in my opinion. The clothing that makes you feel like your best most beautiful self.
I’d rather save up for something that I know I’ll love for a long time rather than buying a lot of little things that are just meh.
A few other pieces that have been on my summer splurge list are:
But here’s the thing, if you buy all of the pricey pieces you really want, then you’re a) broke, and b) not as appreciative of them all. The key, in my opinion, is to only splurge on something you love every few months so it feels more special. A quarterly splurge, if you will. Do you guys buy into that too?
I’m definitely going to be packing my new jumpsuit for a little getaway Anel and I are taking this weekend… aka our first trip together without Amalia. If you like this fabric but jumpsuits aren’t your thing, it also comes in a tie-waist shirtdress which would be perfect for a work outfit.
