Happy Monday! We had a beautiful weekend in Nantucket, and I can’t wait to share much more about the trip later this week. The island created a stunning backdrop for everything we did and I was truly sad to be heading home. We were there with Lands’ End to see the Boston Pops perform on the beach but packed in lots of other fun activities (and meals, of course) including renting a scooter to ride around the island.
The first night we were there, the weather, like everywhere else in New England, was steaming hot so my white jeans ensemble was out of the question. I threw on this adorable romper that I had been dying to wear and felt so great in it. The silhouette is different from what I’m used to so I was nervous that I wouldn’t be able to pull it off but it worked. We snapped these shots on our walk to dinner at Oran Mor.
Luckily I’ll get more island charm soon, as we’re heading to Martha’s Vineyard tomorrow after a busy day today unpacking, repacking, getting a whole bunch of work done, and heading to a few meetings in the city.
It’s going to be a nutty day but worth it for a full on six day vacation with my family, something that I haven’t done since my 30th birthday trip last summer. We travel a lot but it’s usually for only for long weekends so six days feels like a real luxury! I’ve been working hard last week and even over the weekend in Nantucket so that I can take some time off while we’re there. I’m even considering a day-long digital detox where my phone lives only on airplane mode. What do you think? Should I do it?
If my hair looks blonder, by the way, it is. After two years of living in the ‘burbs, I finally found a salon that gets it and did an amazing job. Shout out to my Snapchat followers for recommending Divaz in New Canaan. FYI I saw Melissa who did my cut and color perfectly. For those of you who missed the Snap story, I have been going into the city every six weeks for my cut and colors… Such a pain! I’m so excited to have found a place close to home that does an even better job.

Hi Julia,
I’m a long time reader of your blog & I love reading about your summer travel adventures. Just one quick question; do you feel that some of the items & outfits which you feature are beyond the financial reach of some of your readers? The items featured in today’s post cost over $1,300 which puts them far beyond my financial reach. Am I alone?
Thanks,
Helen
Hi Helen! Thanks so much for following along 🙂 I try to create a good mix of higher end and more affordable items so that all types of people can relate to my looks. This romper is on the pricier end of pieces that I promote so I’ll add a few links to similar, more affordable options now.
Julia, I think you do an excellent job of representing the brands who you are working with but still staying true to your aesthetic. Obviously the bulk of the cost of this outfit would be the necklace that was c/o. I think it’s perfectly logical that you would wear a $250 romper for a special night out and a $25 striped t-shirt another day. I don’t think any blog readers should complain about any of your pieces being unattainable as I don’t feel you’re suggesting that a reader literally goes out and recreates exactly the same outfit. A blog is meant for inspiration and not to copy. I enjoy your aesthetic which is why I read.
Love this romper and Oran Mor was one of my favorite meals on the island!
How adorable is that romper! I’m not sure if I’m still romper ready at 40 plus but it sure is a cute look! Maybe I will stick with the Jacks and the clutch! I haven’t been to darling Nantucket in over 15 years and your pics have me dreaming of a vacation there! I think I need to put it on the short list for next summer.
lovely post!
