Tartan Cape

Holiday Plaid

After last week’s insanity, I manifested a beautiful weekend for myself, and it worked! I was able to take my mind off of the state of our union, if you will, and enjoy time with my family and friends. Saturday and Sunday were both perfectly sunny fall days, with a hint of chill and magic in the air so we tried to get outside as much as possible.

But our biggest accomplishment is that we finally started watching Narcos, which we’re already hooked on after three episodes. Now I get what all the hype is about!

On Saturday, Anel and I took our holiday card photos and they might be our best ones yet! I can’t wait to share them with you soon, but until then, here’s a sneak peek. Boots stole the show, of course. It was pretty chilly on the beach, and I was reminded of how hard it is to take outfit photos every winter. I think I need to move to Hawaii until April. But alas, that isn’t in the cards so I’ll stick to layering on the capes…

As you can tell I’ve been on a cape kick lately. Last week I wore a buffalo plaid version, and the week before, I rocked a chic blush one.  Apparently I can’t get enough as you can see with the tartan toggle cape I’m wearing in this post slash probably as you’re reading this because I may never take it off. It is the ultimate winter/holiday statement piece.

People literally stop me in the street every time I’ve worn this to ask me where I got it. The answer will shock you. This one is different from the others because it’s warm enough to wear as a winter coat. Your arms will stick out so for super freezing days, I’d skip it but I wore it out to dinner on Saturday in 40 degree weather over this sweater, and it was perfect.

This exact plaid hat sold out but they have a version with a pom pom on top that is even better! I love mixing plaids as you can probably tell which is why I added the hat and a pair of adorable flats to this look for shopping in Westport last weekend.

Love this look, especially the plaid mix! I have the opposite winter photo shoot problem. Yesterday I was wearing a velvet blazer in 80 degrees in Los Angeles and dying!

Just LOVING Talbots lately actually! I am digging their fall line (especially their plaid flats!) I find that their style lately has gotten more tailored and hip (if that even makes sense ha!)…love it!

You definitely should! Takes 1 or 2 episodes to get into it but then you’ll be hooked.

Love, love, love this cape! I bought a similar cape on my trip to London this year but it is so thin that its already in the back of my closet waiting until next September. I’d love to have one that would last more than 1 month in the fall and this one looks like it would be perfect! Happy to hear you had such a nice weekend (especially after all the crazy). Can’t wait to see your holiday photos! xx Rox-Anne, Celebratingthislife.ca
