Life Lately: Volume 30

7 week baby

Happy Friday, friends! A few exciting things happened this week in my world:

1. Amalia slept through the night. Like 7pm to 7am (I had to wake her up at 7:15 actually) slept through the night. She had been consistently sleeping until 6 or 6:30 but when we woke up at 7:15 on Thursday morning and she was still asleep, we freaked out! Anel was late for work and we couldn’t believe it. It felt like a serious milestone.

I’m still pumping at night, so I’ve yet to sleep through the night myself but it’s funny how quickly you can adapt. It’s just a part of my routine now and feels totally normal.

I know talking about it might jinx it but she did it again this morning so I’m feeling good about it.

2. I was floored by your response to Monday’s post about the pressure of perfection. I received so many emails and comments, and feel re-invigorated in blogging. For that, I thank you!

3. Later today, we’re heading up to New Hampshire to celebrate my dad’s wife’s birthday and taking our first road trip with Amalia… Eek!

If you have any infant road trip tips, leave them here. My favorite tip so far is to bring a giant ziplock bag to store any clothes that get destroyed by potential blow outs.

PS I got this dress for the party, and I’m so excited to wear it. It has the perfect pleating to cover my post-partum belly! I promise to share photos on Instagram.

4. I got four fillings. I have genetically terrible teeth, and even though I’m beyond OCD about flossing and brushing and mouth washing, they’re just “prone to decay” according to my dentist. Pregnancy, apparently, makes this worse. I have to get a few more in two weeks. Fun times! Also Novocaine definitely makes me feel high. Anyone else?

The perfect fall dress. I love the color and drapiness of this burgundy dress from Rachel Parcel’s latest collection. Added bonus? Great for post-partum bodies!

Counter the effects of sitting. It’s not news that sitting at a desk all day is ruining your posture, but it turns out there’s something you can do about it.

Do Whole Foods’ new prices beat Trader Joes? Find out for yourself.

J.Crew new arrivals + sale: A bunch of new fall arrivals just dropped and I’m loving them! I have my eye on this leopard sweatshirt, a sweater blazer (genius), and the most perfect plaid shirt. Buy two items, get 20% off and if you buy three items, get 30% off with code MOREPLEASE.

PS: J.Crew Factory has a sweater blazer that’s even more affordable! I bought it and will be featuring it in an outfit post next week. It’s amazing.

You should put your kids to bed earlierfor your own sanity! I especially love the helpful chart.

Want to be happier? Science says to do one of these eight things.

Serena & Lily bedding sale: You guys are always asking about what sheets I use and my favorite pairs are all from Serena & Lily. They’re having a 20% off sale right now on all bedding with code GETCOMFY. I have these sheets and this duvet cover on my bed right now.

Moms should bookmark this post. Liz listed out her favorite baby and toddler products after two years of motherhood. There goes my wallet!

Thanks a lot, Jen… Now I need a hot pink trench 🙂

Upgraded white shirt. I love love love this classic white top with a twist. I would pair it with big earrings and black jeans.

Let the apple picking posts begin. Ugh… However I can’t help but love Blair’s post from earlier this week.

Jon Hamm’s next act: What comes after Mad Men for my favorite actor?

Ugh I have terrible teeth too. My dentist says they’re just soft and that’s why I get so many cavities even though I take such good care of my teeth.
