Do you remember over the holidays when my friend Eva and I created a ‘Your Holiday Personality’ quiz? We were blown away by the response and how much fun you guys had with it, so we decided to make another one in honor of Mother’s Day.

There are lots of ‘mom types’ out there from the ‘Stepford Mom’ (pictured above) to the ‘Non-Mom’ (pictured below) and everything in between. This quiz is a fun little joke but the bigger message that I want to share today is that every mom, no matter what her style, is doing her best. And my reminder to you moms reading this is that however you handle the crazy stuff that motherhood throws at you, remember you’re doing a great job.

I finally listened to Dax Shepard’s Armchair Expert podcast where he interviewed his wife, Kristen Bell (highly recommend). In it, she repeated over and over that she fully believes that everyone is doing their best with what they have at that moment and I love that sentiment. At one point she talked about it in the context of forgiving yourself for mistakes you’ve made in the past because even though you might know better now, you were doing your best at that time with what you had.

I think this is a great attitude to take on as mom because we all make mistakes and we’re all figuring it out as we go. There is no such thing as a perfect parent… Just ask any therapist! So forgive yourself for your past mistakes and try to forgive yourself in the moment when you make your next mistake.
