TV Shows to Binge This Summer

TV Shows to Binge This Summer

We spend more time outside in the summer and less time on the couch, but there are still summer rainstorms and hot, lazy weeknights where all we want to do is watch TV in the AC. Here are my binge-worthy picks of great TV shows to binge this summer!

Schitt’s Creek (Netflix): It’s safe to say that Schitt’s Creek is one of my all-time favorite TV comedies of all time. It’s right up there with Arrested Development because the characters are amazingly weird and the running jokes make you feel like you’re part of the gang. It takes a few episodes to get into but I promise that you’ll quickly understand the hype for this cult-favorite. #ewdavid

Dead to Me (Netflix): I crushed the entire first season of Dead to Me in a week. Every episode ends with a new surprise and I love that there are two strong and funny female leads. I highly recommend it for a dark and twisty mystery that’s also quite comical.

Catastrophe (Amazon Prime): For some reason, not a lot of people have heard of this show but it’s brilliant. The relationship between the main characters is one of my favorite TV relationships ever. It gets dark in the last two seasons but manages to bring the laughs while dealing with difficult topics.

YOU (Netflix): It’s creepy, it’s addictive, and you won’t be able to turn away. If you still haven’t jumped on the YOU train, get going. And be prepared to be very disturbed. You might even shut down your social media for a while when you finish.

Silicon Valley (HBO): Although there are apparently no new episodes until 2020, you can still binge-watch older ones. I laugh out loud during every single episode. The deadpan humor is right up my alley. Anel says he loves to watch me watch this show because I laugh so hard.

Big Little Lies (HBO): As I started writing this list, I realized I haven’t started season two and now I know what I’ll be doing tonight. I can’t wait to see what Meryl does for a show I already love.

Killing Eve (Hulu): If you’re fascinated by sociopaths like I am, watch this immediately. We started it after Sandra Oh won the Emmy, and I fully understand why she did. It’s a little weird, not gonna lie, but it’s definitely entertaining.

Orange is the New Black (Netflix): Season 7, the final season, is coming back on July 26th and I’m so excited to see what happens with Piper now that she’s out. The trailer looks great, and I really hope they finish the series as strong as they started it. I know it went downhill for a while there, but I’ve always been a big fan of OITNB.

The Handmaid’s Tale (Hulu): I can’t not include this on my list. Anel thinks my obsession with the show is weird because I have to have full silence and focus for each episode and sometimes want to watch them twice. The end of last season was disappointing but I’m fully into everything they’re doing this season.

Queer Eye (Netflix): I need to catch up on the latest season. Every episode makes me laugh and every episode makes me cry. If you want a feel-good show that gives you hope in humanity, this is it!

Grace & Frankie (Netflix): It’s uplifting, it’s funny, and even though there isn’t a new season out right now, it’s worth it to go back and binge the last three.

Next on my list is Younger because anytime I talk about what I’m watching, so many people recommend it. I am finally going to start it this summer.

If you’ve already watched all of these, check out my list from last year.
