Life Lately: Volume 10

Rainbow Sprinkles

Happy Friday from Florida! Anel and I have had a pretty spectacular two days at The Ritz-Carlton, Sarasota (I’ll recap the trip next week), and today we’re driving an hour south to visit my aunts in Cape Coral. A lot of you guys have been asking me on social media if I’m worried about Zika, so wanted to assure you that we did a ton of research on where we could go while pregnant, and the part of Florida that we’re in is totally safe!

You can always do your own research on the CDC website or ask your doctor, but before the summer hits, there are a lot of great places you can travel.

From around the web

Travel Goals: Cassandra de Pecol just became the first woman to visit every country in the world. And get this… She’s only 27 years old! She just finished her world tour as an ambassador for the International Institute of Peace Through Tourism. On the trip, she met with mayors and ministers of tourism, presenting them with the organization’s “Declaration of Peace.” How cool is that?

Not all Processed Foods are Bad for You: I found this Washington Post article about different types of processed foods to be a helpful resource.

J.Crew New Arrivals: Oh no, J.Crew has a whole new slew of new arrivals and they’re good! I just adore this sweet bow sweater (in light pink, of course) and this red striped linen shirt for summer. If you have a spring or summer wedding coming up, please buy this dress. If I could rock it now, I totally would. I almost want to get it for next year… but that would be weird, right?

Pretty Party: Amanda is truly the hostess with the mostest, but this post of her Valentine’s Day party had me swooning even more than usual, it’s such a dream. Now I’m feeling inspired to throw a girl’s only spring fling. If only I had that outdoor space!

The End of an Era: Mackenzie is closing her online boutique. I’m sad because it’s one of my favorite places to shop online, but totally know where she’s coming from. I did the same thing, for many of the same reasons, about four years ago, and it was the best decision I could have made. Owning an online boutique is no joke, and is a ton of mostly very hard work!

Harbour Island: I’ve been dying to travel to Harbour Island in the Bahamas since my sister went last winter. Sadly, because of Zika, it’s not in the cards at this time, but I will make it there eventually for sure. Julia’s recap of her trip made my desire grow even stronger. How gorgeous are all of her shots?

Currently Reading: I finished A Separation this week, and it was a super fast read. I liked it, but didn’t love it like everyone else seems to. I’d love to know you’re thoughts if you read it. For my trip, I brought Bringing up Bébé (non-fiction) and The Dollhouse (fiction), both of which I already love. Anel brought his current favorite parenting book, Dude, You’re Gonna Be a Dad. Ladies, if you’re pregnant, buy this for your baby daddies. It’s hilarious and surprisingly informative!

I just finished The Dollhouse and loved it! Such a good choice for a beach/pool read.

Also wanted to recommend the Diaper Dude (somehow the book Anel is reading reminded me of it). I got it for my husband before our first kid & it’s been super useful. He didn’t care about having to use my diaper bag but honestly I didn’t want him messing it up and throwing his junk in it 🙂

Your trip looks like it has been amazing! Love that blue + white striped dress! Glad to know there are places you can go in Florida – we’ve been trying to arrange a bachelorette party and it’s hard to find places that everyone can go (expecting/trying/single)

Yes! Check out Sarasota, but make sure to keep checking the CDC website, it’s not worth a risk. It might change depending on the time of year, so better safe than sorry!

Oh – enjoy your time at the Ritz Sarasota! I stayed there (1 night only) last summer and I’m hoping to return this summer. It’s an amazing spot! Service is wonderful!
