The Ultimate Work Out Mix

I don’t work out as often as I should. Ideally, it would be 4+ times/week but it ends up at 2 or 3 on a good week. I love to run. I’m not very fast and I rarely ever do more than 5 miles but I love it nonetheless. A few years ago, someone jokingly said that I couldn’t run a half-marathon. Pshaww, proved that MF wrong! I trained for 3 months and by some grace of God, ran 13.1 miles on a cloudy September saturday in East Hampton. The feeling of completing it was incredible (as you can tell by the look on my face below).

half marathon

Training through a hot New York City summer was another story. I had to get up before work 3 times every week to run because the evenings were debilitatingly humid. I did my long runs on the weekends. To get through the miles, I relied a lot on music. To this day, I have trouble going for a run without blasting my workout mix. I am that girl you see dancing and singing along to music while she runs. Seriously. I do that. It makes the other runners smile and it keeps me going.

In order to keep my workout mix fresh and fly, I rely on my dad, my sister, and my husband to constantly update me with their latest exercise-inspired jams. My dad resigns to top 40 pop music, my husband loves rap, and my sister pounds the pavement to dub step. Me? I like a mix of all of their favorite genres. I thought I’d share my current work out mix (it’s truly ever-changing) with you now as the weather warms up and we all start working towards our bikini-bodies.

You can find my full work out mix here but in the meantime, here is a preview:

I would love to know what your favorite work-out songs are so I can add them to my list!

I’m currently trying to get back into running and would LOVE to get to the point where I could run 5 miles consistently. I rely on music to get me through my runs and workouts as well.

    My current favorites are:
    Chocolate – The 1975
    Burn – Ellie Goulding
    Runaways – The Killers
Young Blood – The Naked and Famous

I’m the same way-I cannot run without music! I usually rely on Pandora’s workout stations or my own mixes to get me through.

Do you use Spotify? They have special running mixes; very good. For me, I need upbeat music to keep me going. My faves; Eye of the Tiger, Busta Rhymes, Bruce Springsteen, ABBA, MJ, any reggae, Beyoncé (Ego), Madonna and anything 80’s.

I do! I’ve tried some of the pre-made ones but I’m super picky about my running music 🙂

I would love to run a half marathon, I always think I wouldn’t be able to do it but I’m sure if I pout my mind to it I could manage it!
