When I first started my blog (4 years ago next month!), I used to post a series called “This Weekend in Photos” every Monday. It was my favorite series but as the blog grew (and changed it’s name from Lemons & Loafers to Lemon Stripes), I started focusing more and more on posts with professional photography. This weekend I felt inspired to reinstate this series but it will only stick around if you guys like it so let me know!
I had a tough week of sorts because I had to cancel my weekend in L.A. to visit my mom and grandma at the last minute because of work commitments. I was devastated when I realized that I couldn’t go but made the executive decision to stop being bummed and make the most of a free weekend in the city. I did just that. Here are some of the highlights from the last few days. I hope you enjoy it!
12:00pm Friday: Make a last minute decision to go to a Yankees game with my sister tonight. Yay so excited for fun plans! It will be just like when we were kids. . . but drunker.
7:00pm Friday: Sweating balls on the 4 train up to the Bronx. When we get to Yankee stadium, the commute was all worth it. I mean look at that sunset!
7:15pm Friday: Some guy just paid me $60 for the hat off my head. It never quite fit right anyway. Turned around and bought two new ones for me and my sister for $30 each. Score!
10:15pm Friday: The Yankees Win!!! And we’re feeling satisfied after eating hot dogs, garlic fries, and vodka sodas. Such a great night. There’s nothing like sister time. And mine happens to be the best.
10:00am Saturday: Did I seriously just sleep in until 10? I haven’t slept this late in forever. I feel so rested and wonderful.
12:00pm Saturday: Meet up with my near and dear girlfriend, Arielle, for a healthy and farm-fresh brunch al fresco at Riverpark. We ordered fresh green salads, watermelon with lime, a summer squash frittata, and avocado toast that we sprinkled with our own raw honey.
1:00pm Saturday: Craving ice cream SO BADLY but I’m dairy-free so go out of our way to Van Leeuwen’s for a vegan salted caramel and pistachio ice cream cone. It hits the spot. I could eat that shit all day long.
3:00pm Saturday: Pop into C. Wonder to spend the $1000 gift card that I won (more on that later this week!). I left with a TON of products including this navy and white salad bowl, these camel-printed slouchy pants, an orange shellac monogrammed jewelry box, and the dress I change into for the evening.
4:00pm Saturday: After walking around downtown Manhattan for 3 hours (and discovering the loveliest park in Nolita), I put my feet up for a cut and color with Valerie at Takamichi Hair. It’s been way too long and I’m due for a serious refresh!
7:00pm Saturday: Board the North River Lobster Company boat with Anel for lobster rolls and an evening on the Hudson River.
9:00pm Saturday: We’re still hungry so we head back uptown to the Upper East Side for wine and calimari at Bocca followed by an episode of our new favorite show, Ray Donovan (I highly recommend!).
8:30am Sunday: Answer emails and blog until Anel wakes up. Today we’re going to Connecticut to look at apartment buildings. We’re moving to the ‘burbs within a year and couldn’t be more excited!
4:00pm Sunday: After looking at 4 gorgeous buildings (with pools!), and a kale caesar salads at Le Pain Quotidien, we decide to go shopping like regular people at Fairway with our car. It’s pretty effing awesome. Bags go straight into the trunk, and don’t weigh down my arms for the long walk home.
6:30pm Sunday: I have no idea how I find it in me given the heat but I somehow run on the East River, sweating profusely.
9:00pm Sunday: Here I sit writing this post and preparing for a productive week ahead. I wish you all a week of getting shit done and some fun summer nights along the way.
