What a week! After a lot of snow and an icy front, the temps rose above 50 degrees on Wednesday and Thursday, which inspired me to head to the beach not once, but twice for a walk at sunset, and the next day in the morning. Boots loves to play on the sand, and being near the ocean grounds me more than anything in the world. It was rejuvenating and breathtaking, and I’m so glad I took the time to make that happen.
Besides that, I worked a lot, cooked a lot, and was generally quite productive this week. I’m heading to LA in two weeks, so starting to plan for that trip and couldn’t be more excited!
Muffins that don’t give you a muffin top. I shared this recipe for healthy banana muffins over on my husband’s blog. I made them twice this week! Get the recipe.
The truth about Planned Parenthood. My friend Hitha wrote an incredibly educational post about what Planned Parenthood really does and why it needs the funding it needs. She did all this, barely even mentioning abortion, which I thought was pretty incredible. Read the post.
Read up. I always get excited for Grace’s monthly reading lists, and I literally just bought every book she recommended for January. Read the post.
Guess who’s back? Diptyque’s limited edition Rosamundi candle comes out every year around February. It is the most beautiful, romantic scent, and the vessel is always stunning too. Buy it here.
Packable lunches. I’m always trying to think of creative things to make myself and Anel for lunches. He takes his to work, so it really has to be packable. I loved Bri’s post highlighting three packable lunches. Read the post.
Zzzzz. As someone who has been through, and overcome (for the most part) insomnia, this article on how to get better sleep was fascinating. Read the article.
Ginger jar. I get asked constantly about where I buy my ginger jars. While they can get pricey, this adorable mini jar is less than $20 and a great addition to any dresser, desk, or side table. Buy it here.
Colors in Cartagena. Blair’s posts from Columbia are giving me serious wanderlust! This outfit is incredible, and she looks so happy and relxed. Read the post.
Weekly Playlist. Spotify did it again with New Music Friday, an eclectic and mostly upbeat mix. Listen here.

Hello Julia! Well done for having a productive week, it looks like you are back in the swing of things! I have done pretty good too since my husband was away all week and I was left at home in London with the 3 little ones, I am patting myself on the shoulder for managing it all but it gave me a good insight about what single mums have to do on a daily basis. No rest by! I am looking forward to a day in Central London with a friend tomorrow but it’s so cold now here…the cold snap has definitely arrived! I really enjoy those ‘life lately’ post, it is just fun to read and there is always a subject you want to read about so keep those posts coming. Hope you have nice plans for the weekend. Maybe more walks by the Ocean? It is so amazing how much the sight, smell and vibes or the sea are so calming and grounding. I miss it! Hugs from London, Julie
