I often post Snapchats of my morning matcha tea lattes and every time I get questions about how I make them. I thought I’d answer that once and for all with this post! The long answer is that I’ve tried every tactic out there, boiling the milk and then using a frother, buying a fancy bamboo whisk, and the works. At the end of the day though, I have zero desire to spend my mornings whisking and prepping so I came up with an easy solution that is just as delicious but takes less than a minute to put together.
The reason I drink matcha is because I love the jolt of energy that it gives me to get moving in the mornings but without the anxious jitters that I often feel when I drink coffee. It also feels so much more indulgent than plain old tea that often tastes watered down and downright boring. On top of all that, matcha is super high in antioxidants and amino acids which actually help to relax you while also energizing you. Makes no sense but I promise it’s true. I learned in McKel’s post about matcha that traditionally monks would sip matcha tea to help ease their minds for meditation which is pretty cool.
Matcha Tea Lattes:
Serves 1
Ingredients:
- ½ cup hot water
- ½ cup milk of your choice (I use cashew or coconut milk)
- 1 teaspoon organic matcha powder
- 1 tablespoon raw honey or whatever sweetener you prefer
Directions:
- Blend all ingredients in a Vitamix or high-powered blender
- Pour and enjoy!
- For iced lattes, let cool and then pour over ice
Trader Joe’s has a matcha latte powder that I love when I need a break from chai. I’ve never prepared it using my blender but I’ll give it a whirl (pun not intended!).

Matcha has become one of my dear favorites! Such a fun and easy recipe, I’ll be trying it out soon. I’m curious what Vitamix blender you use? We are thinking of purchasing one but not sure which one to get!
