Pecan Pie

Every year, my aunt makes her famous pecan pie for Thanksgiving and Christmas and it is truly my favorite pie in the world ever ever ever. It’s ridiculously sweet and totally unhealthy and I cannot imagine a holiday without it.

For the last few years, I’ve been making her recipe with a little less sugar and syrup (I promise, it’s still super sweet!) and I used dark chocolate chips instead of milk but the vibe is the same.

Trust me when I tell you this will be a hit with everyone around your Thanksgiving table!

Pecan Pie Recipe

Makes 1 pie

Ingredients:
-3/4 cup dark Karo syrup
-3/4 cup organic cane sugar
-1 tsp vanilla extract
-2 eggs
-2 cups chopped pecans
-1 cup dark chocolate chips (optional but highly recommended!)
-1 pre-packaged pie-crust (I used Pillsbury) unless you’re brave enough to make your own

Directions:
-Pre-heat oven to 350
-Mix the first 5 ingredients together in a bowl
-Add chopped pecans and mix
-Add chocolate chips if desired
-Press pie crust into a round pyrex dish
-If you’re into aesthetics, press a fork into the crust evenly around the edges (see photo)
-Pour into pie crust
-Bake in oven on middle rack for 1 hour
-Let cool for at least 20 minutes
-Enjoy!
